Last week, I introduced my patrons to Moonlight Wanderers, a Pokemon Moon Nuzlocke comic I have planned to go up alongside Rain later this year. Today, I'd like to talk a bit about protagonist, Maya Shimizu... who's been around for a while, actually. For those of you who follow my DeviantArt, she's shown up a few times in individual pics even before Pokemon Moon even released.

She's also appeared in Rain, on various book covers:

So yeah. I've been planning this for a long time. XD
I've drawn Maya a bunch outside her public appearances too, really trying to make sure I'm satisfied with how she looks, and dresses, and presents herself. Really, she hasn't changed much. Earlier images (namely the ones in the links from before Moon's release), feature her with freckles. Somewhere along the way, they stopped being a thing though. The other major change is that she now has a tattoo of a Rainbow Badge on her upper thigh (which IS significant).
Most art so far has featured Maya in a yellow t-shirt and green shorts, much like the female protagonist's initial outfit in the game. But also much like in the game, I don't want Maya restricted to a single outfit. So she and some of the other more recurring characters will probably see a few costume changes as the story progresses. Both the yellow shirt and the purple shirt outfits she wore above, are inspired by things I had her wear in my playthrough. The green outfit is based on the Rising Star trainers in the game, because I considered a temporary school setting using that as the uniform. I don't know how many different outfits she'll actually wear (or how many of the ones I've drawn specifically), but I just wanted to try a lot of different things.

Outside of the art aspect, Maya is - needless to say - the heroine of the story. She's strong-willed, a bit hot-headed, and a heck of a nerd when it comes to Pokemon (though she might not be the best trainer, and certainly has growing up to do). Her dream is to take on the Pokemon League of the Kanto region and - win or lose - go on to become a Gym Leader herself. But after a bad divorce, Maya's mother takes her and moves all the way across the world to Alola, a region devoid of Pokemon Gyms or a Pokemon League. Desperate to have any control over her life again, she gets a Pokemon of her own and goes on a journey without letting her mom know.
Also, the timezone difference from her original home (combined with her terrible sleeping habits), lead to her doing most of her adventuring in the middle of the night (hence the title of the story). ;P
Thanks for reading, viewing, and patroning. As with before, questions are welcome, though I may not be prepared to answer everything.
Until next time, take care, everyone. ^_^
