New issue, Readers' Poll and January ebook!

Hi all --

In this week's issue you'll find out how The Jetsons and The Flintstones can help us think about the use of energy in SF, what the future might hold for British horror, a new poem by Kit Hamada (and our monthly poetry podcast), reviews of Lincoln Michel's stories, Sean Wallace's dieselpunk, and Yonderland -- and the winners of this year's Readers' Poll!

A big thank-you to all of you who voted: the full results and commentary are here, but I'll just link you directly to the first-placed material in each category.

Fiction: "Glaciers Made You" by Gabby Reed

Poem: "Ranra's Unbalancing" by Rose Lemberg

Article: joint first: "The Uses and Limitations of the Folklorist's Toolkit for Fiction" by Rose Lemberg and "Gender, Sex, and Sexuality in SF: A Conversation" by Polenth Blake and Bogi Takács

Columnist: Genevieve Valentine for Intertitles (sadly this was her last year writing for us -- but she's left us with a great archive, and we look forward to her writing elsewhere)

Reviewer: Erin Horáková, for pieces such as this magisterial take on Over the Garden Wall and its reviewers

Art: Rachel Kahn's illustration for "Let's Tell Stories of the Deaths of Children" by Margaret Ronald

If you missed any of those first time around, you've got a treat in store for you catching up.

Oh -- and I almost forgot. Attached to this post is the January ebook, with all of this month's material together at last (as they say). Enjoy!

-- Niall
