I'm back! Many thanks to Jane for stepping in and sending out last week's notification: I was in darkest Yorkshire, where there turned out to be less wi-fi than I was expecting. I return refreshed, relaxed, and keen to encourage as many people as possible to read The Core of the Sun by Johanna Sinisalo. (And, to be honest, all her other books, if you haven't.)
More immediately, however: a new issue! We've got:
- KJ Kabza's story, "Letter to My Son"
- Akua Lezli Hope's poem, "Eating Verse"
- Kari Sperring's latest Matrilines column, looking at the work of Louise Lawrence
- Reviews of The Robot Scientist's Daughter, Shadowhunters, and Luna
Also this week, we've had some happy award nominations news: Susan Jane Bigelow's "Sarah's Child" was on the honor list for this year's Tiptree Award (won by Eugene Fischer and Pat Schmatz), and Kelly Link's "The Game of Smash and Recovery" is up for this year's Sturgeon Award (winner to be announced in August). Congratulations to both Susan and Kelly! Their stories are terrific, and we're very pleased to see them getting more attention; if you happen to have not read them, do take a look.
