Draconic Impact Chapter 30

With a satisfied smile, I look at the supply cart beyond the bridge leading straight to Mondstadt’s main gate, ready and loaded with all the alcohol I’ll be selling and/or gifting in Liyue—a few barrels worth of five different brews: rum, mead, wine, whiskey, and beer. I’ve tried them, and all of them are of top quality. I’m sure that they’ll be popular with the locals overnight.
Companies will quickly take notice, no doubt even trying to mimic the method, but to no avail. After all, Diona’s gift is magical and cannot be replicated so easily; I’m certain of that. And when these corporations eventually give up, they’ll instead make offers to the adorable mixologist. Try to build a relationship with her and her company.
That is assuming they try to take the diplomatic path. Big corporations cannot handle the mere idea of someone rivaling them, so assassination or kidnapping attempts should be expected. But that’s not an issue; by the time they try something so foolish, Diona will have already made friends with the most influential people in the world. She may very well be untouchable.
This confidence in my little friend isn’t misplaced. I’ve done similar things in the past, and with someone as adorable as Diona at the helm, it might even be more straightforward. In fact, she already has her own fan club. Becoming an empress will be a cakewalk for her. With my help, of course.
However, her worst enemy at the moment is time. This will take years, but I doubt it’ll be more than a decade, which is saying something. Becoming Teyvat’s empress from a most modest background in about a decade is quite the achievement.
And on the off chance some idiot does try to lay a finger on her, I’ll thoroughly crush them until nothing remains. That should give the other upstarts a clear idea of what will happen to them should they try to hurt my beloved business partner. Who is only a little girl, mind you.
They may disregard her as a mascot or a figurehead, which is half correct. After all, I’m the one who orchestrated this grand plan of turning her into an all-powerful businesswoman and, subsequently, an empress. If our enemies are worth their salt, they’ll quickly come to that conclusion as well.
Unless Diona herself is of incredible intellect as a child, which, to be honest, she isn’t, I’ll be seen as the biggest obstacle, meaning it’s more likely that they’ll target me instead. And that sounds hilarious.
“Huh…” Diona hums to herself. “Hmm, I dunno. I feel like this is too little.”
But that’s enough pondering about potential enemies. I’ll worry about that when it becomes a problem.
“Too little?” I parrot the small girl with a confused tone. “In quantity, you mean?”
“Mhm.” She nods with a conflicted look. “I mean, what’re ya gonna do if you run out too quickly?”
“Why, it’s quite simple.” I raise a brow, still maintaining my smile. “I would return to Mondstadt for more, of course.”
“Yeah, but wouldn’t that slow down our momentum?” She argues, making me blink in surprise.
“Oh?” I look at her in interest.
“I mean, our biggest focus right now is to make a huge impact on the market, right?” She continues. “Especially since we’re starting in Liyue. It’s the richest and most powerful province. Running out before we can make a lasting impression might end up hurting us.”
Well, I’ll be. I see little Diona has been studying, hasn’t she? Good. This makes me more confident in my decision. If she’s taking things so seriously this early, then she’ll do well as a leader.
But she’s still green. She needs a guiding hand to realize her full potential.
“True enough. Running out early could prove troublesome, but not entirely.” I point out. “Firstly, the impact will still be there, regardless of how little we bring, as word about your company would spread like wildfire across every region and province, and before you know it, you’ll have customers knocking on your door.”
“Y-you really think something like that would happen?”
“Naturally.”
“But that’s— I mean, ain’t that too easy?” She says. “I dunno; I feel like maybe people aren’t that easy to convince. They’re not gonna spend so much on travel expenses just to come over to Mondstadt to taste my drinks…”
“Your concerns are valid, Diona.” I pat her on the head. “But they’re under the assumption that your product isn’t as good as it is.”
And the alcohol she makes is divine. I myself have countless years of experience in creating and testing alcoholic drinks, and hers are nothing less than what I’d put on the shelves of my bars. Granted, hers are not on the level of what I can make, and they certainly don’t even rival my products, but they’re definitely up to my standards.
Which is more than enough to bend the world to its knees if she plays her cards right. She will have countless customers, rich and poor, common folk and royalty, throwing all their money just to get a taste. Of that, I’m very sure.
Besides, seeing how clean and safe Mondstadt is of monsters and bandits these days, more customers would be willing to make the journey. As long as I keep it that way, of course. More troublemakers are bound to show up eventually.
“I dunno…” Diona appreciates the praise, but she’s not entirely convinced.
“And even if that’s not the case, then there’s nothing to worry about on that front either,” I add, spreading my dragon wings and making her flinch in surprise. “I’ll simply return to Mondstadt for more and fly back to Liyue before you can blink.”
“Woah, you have wings?!” Diona’s eyes sparkle, skipping over to inspect my wings closely. “You can fly?!”
“Yes, and yes,” I confirm as she gently traces a hand over my left wing. “I’m a dragon, you see.”
“Wow. I never knew that. You’re like the nicest dragon ever.” She says, believing me in an instant. “Can I get a ride sometime soon? Pretty please?”
“Of course.” I bow down and kiss the back of her hand. “Anything for my future empress.”
Diona’s bashful squeal makes me chuckle at how adorable she is. I’m going to miss her.
“Crim-Crim!”
At the explosive girl’s excited call, I look at Klee rushing toward me. Behind her are Eula, Lisa, and Jean, who display distinct attitudes around me. The former Knight of Favonius seems more at ease with herself and her decision than yesterday, while the grandmaster still shows signs of dread in my presence.
Hmm, I suppose ‘dread’ is a strong word here. She’s very clearly far more relaxed than she ever was before our little fun yesterday and the night before it. She can make eye contact with me, after all. However, the anxiety is still there. To her, there’s always the chance of me breaking my promise, I suppose.
Klee, as Klee does, looks the most excited. She immediately hugs my leg with a giggle, her radiant grin making me pick her up. I notice Jean’s unease, but she says and does nothing, seemingly showing some trust in my handling of the little girl.
“Crim-Crim, Crim-Crim! You’re going to Liyue, right?!” She asks as I pat her head. “Klee is gonna miss you sooooo much!”
“I’ll miss you more.”
“Nuh-uh, Klee will miss you lots!” She giggles. “More than Crim-Crim will miss Klee!”
“Ah, is that so?”
“Uh-huh!”
“Then I suppose I can’t argue with that.”
As for the librarian? She looks incredibly relieved that I’m leaving her region, expectant after my promise of information, and… fearful, for some reason. How odd. I expected that from Jean, not her.
“What is it?” I ask.
“Oh, I’m just surprised,” Lisa says. “I never thought I’d see you up so early.”
…She’s most definitely hiding something from me. I’ve noticed her acting strange more than once.
“I’ll admit, I am excited at the prospect of traveling on foot,” I respond before addressing Eula. “And with you? I barely had any sleep.”
Lucky for her, I frankly don’t care what it is about. I doubt it’s that important.
“Shut up,” Eula says, twirling a lock of her hair. “You sound like an idiot…”
“Huh?” Diona blinks. “Wait, the alcoholic knight is going with you?”
“I’m NOT an alcoholic, you stupid cat!” Eula scowls, becoming unreasonably angry at the sassy child. “Show some respect!”
Diona narrows her eyes.
“Oh, sorry. I guess ‘alcoholic’ ain’t the right word. Lemme try that again.” She pauses, then gives me a questioning look not unlike the one before, but this time with a subtle smirk. “Wait, the racist knight is going with you?”
I can’t help but laugh at that. Oh, I am so going to miss her.
“Why you little…!”
“What are you doing?” Lisa stops her. “Goodness, Eula. It’s just a child. Get a hold of yourself.”
“A child that needs to be taught to respect her elders.” She scoffs as Diona blows a raspberry from behind me, which only serves to annoy Eula even more. “Oh, when I get my hands on you—”
“Enough,” Jean says with surprising authority. “I know your temper was always a problem, but a kid, Eula? Seriously?”
Eula’s scowl deepens, but she says nothing as she backs down. At Diona’s giggle, Jean looks at her sharply, making the little girl jump in fright.
“And such disrespect from you will not be tolerated, young lady.” She scolds. “Treat your elders with proper respect. Especially knights. Am I clear?”
“Y-yes, ma’am…”
Ah, here it is—a glimpse of that supposed Acting Grandmaster of Mondstadt.
“Good.” Jean clears her throat before addressing me. She takes a moment to compose herself before speaking. “I suppose this is it, then?”
“This is it, indeed.” I nod. “I was merely waiting for Eula to arrive before we made our journey together. Though, seeing that Lisa is here…”
I take the notebook strapped to my pants and hand it over to Lisa, who looks surprised by its size. Convincing Carmine wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be, though she seemed strangely exhausted when I asked her.
As promised, I have a thousand-page notebook that details a lot of the basics of my world’s primary energy source: Etherflux. How it can be harnessed and what kind of things it can power.
One might think that giving them this kind of information would be utterly idiotic, but in such a primitive state, it’s very doubtful it will cause any trouble. Perhaps if given enough time, yes, but every star in the universe is more likely to be extinguished first.
It will definitely propel them to millions of years in technology, but perfecting Etherflux to the stage we currently use took our clan of unrivaled technological and magical geniuses about a few thousand years, so I’m not worried.
Besides, even on the off chance this could become a problem, I’ll have taken over this world by then. And every world under our control is given the privilege of Etherflux for free.
Lisa opens the notebook, flipping through a few pages to ensure it’s the real deal, looking even more surprised at how detailed it is. She eyes me suspiciously as she closes it, prompting my smile to widen.
No other word needs to be exchanged between us.
“What’s this about?” Jean asks, glancing at the notebook.
“It’s a gift for Lisa,” I answer before the librarian can. “For being a great help to me since my arrival.”
She says nothing despite her expression of guilt. She knows exactly what I mean. As for her little curse? Well, realistically, I’ll have to take her to Carmine to get it checked. Right now, even if I figure out exactly what’s wrong with her, I won’t be able to fix it until I have my magic back.
The easier way would be to let Carmine handle it. She’s much better than me at these kinds of things, anyway.
“I see…” Jean doesn’t pry.
“Well, ladies, it’s been fun. I may not show it, but hearing your goodbyes means a lot.” I say, putting Klee on the ground. “Especially from my bestest friend.”
“Will Crim-Crim visit Mondstadt again?”
“Of course.” I pat her on the head. “I’ll bring you all sorts of souvenirs as well.”
“Yay! Crim-Crim is the best!”
“What about the cargo?” Jean wonders. “I can bring you a horse or two if you want.”
“No need.” I wave it off. “I’ll pull it by myself.”
“R-right…” She clears her throat. “Before you go, can I have a word? Privately.”
I blink and then glance at Eula, who leans against the cart.
“I can wait.”
With that, I leave the group and follow Jean. Just far enough so we’re not eavesdropped by anyone. As I’m about to ask what she needs from me, she takes out a folded piece of paper hidden in her belt and gives it to me, her face glowing red as she does so.
“I um…” She mutters. “Forgot to give you this yesterday. I’ve already done my part. You just have to sign it.”
“Ah…” I snort as I unfold it. “It almost slipped my mind, you know? You had the perfect opportunity to trick me.”
“Our contract, while only verbal, is still a contract. And I’d rather avoid being the one who breaks it.” She says, giving me a pen. “I’m a knight. I have my code of honor.”
“Of course.” I chuckle. “Though, I imagine you know this will not stop me from sleeping with whomever I wish, yes?”
“Do whatever you want.” She sighs. “Just do your part of the contract, and I’ll be satisfied.”
“How nice~” I respond with a mocking tone. “I like a wife who’s so easy to please~”
Following that, I signed and filled out the marriage certificate with my information and handed it back to her along with a pen. So, that makes me a citizen of Mondstadt too, correct? How convenient.
“Though, I suppose I have been rather mean to you,” I add. “Tell you what? When I come back to Mondstadt, how about we have a date?
“So you are coming back?” Jean says, completely ignoring the latter offer.
She’s still paranoid.
“Naturally. Someone has to keep your kingdom clean.” I remind her. “As per our contract, I am to be your protector, yes?”
“…Yes.” She nods after a moment. “But how are you going to do that when you’re traveling?”
“Leave that to me. I suggest investing your efforts into expanding your kingdom in the meantime.” I advise her. “And make sure to listen to Lisa.”
Jean bravely stares me in the eyes, carefully studying my words and expression before she nods again.
“Alright.”
“Excellent,” I say. “Then I leave you to it for now. Until we meet again, Jean.”
She doesn’t say anything as I walk back to the cart. After I’ve said my goodbyes to Klee and Diona, I give Lisa a glance and a smile. She catches it and stares back hesitantly, almost as if she wants to say something, before deciding against it and looking away.
I’m sure that if I ask her, she’ll give me a straight answer. I very much doubt she’ll try to lie her way out of whatever that’s bothering her.
But I don’t feel like it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
– Jean –
Watching as Crimson and Eula start their journey to Liyue, with the former actually pulling the cart with his own hands, she felt a huge weight lift off her shoulder as she sighed. Finally, he was finally gone. And with him, most of their issues were gone. And while he may have taken Eula with him, Jean was admittedly satisfied with this trade. Especially seeing that it had been Eula’s own decision to go with him for some weird reason.
To think this was how she’d marry… No ceremony, no loved ones to congratulate her on such a wonderful occasion, no nothing. To someone for whom she had no love. A dragon that could and would annihilate them if sufficiently angered.
She looked down at the marriage certificate and sighed again. It wasn’t as if Jean had ever expected to get married this early— or at all— but she would sometimes think about what it would be like to have a husband and how nice it would be to live a peaceful and stress-free life. Relatively speaking, of course.
This? This was just depressing. But perhaps it was for the best. Using her own marriage as something that would ultimately help her kingdom wasn’t part of her duties as a grandmaster, but it was a sacrifice she was willing to make anyway. Having to go by his surname, though… well, it wasn’t like she was required to do that.
And she was thankful that this was everything he’d had her do. She’d beenprepared to be dragged with him to Liyue to be paraded around as his wife, but apparently not. When asked if she was supposed to quit being a knight, he answered by saying to do whatever she wanted.
This much freedom was somewhat unexpected, considering how their ‘contract’ was phrased. However, Jean knew that she’d have to quit sooner or later or at least take some time off to care for their child, assuming she was pregnant, which she heavily suspected.
There were some lingering doubts that he might go back on his words whenever he felt bored, but Jean knew she was just being paranoid. Why would he do such a thing if all he wanted were wives and children? Naturally, a king or god would want to rule Mondstadt, not destroy it.
Jean knew that when the time came, she wouldn’t be able to stop him from taking over their beloved kingdom. She knew she’d have to submit to him and his will because the other option would be to fight him, which was suicide.
And admittedly, the idea of using his own children against him didn’t sound so appealing. Obviously, they’d be their best chance if Crimson decided to turn on them, but what if he didn’t? It wouldn’t be fair to them or their father if they were made to fight each other.
Maybe Crimson wasn’t as terrible as she had assumed. Despite his proud and unashamed demeanor, he surprisingly had a way with children, which was evident in his interactions with them and the affection and trust Klee and Diona showed towards him.
It made her hopeful that she could perhaps appeal to his emotions rather than outright try to fight him. But that was in a worst-case scenario. Because what she needed to worry about at the moment was the huge possibility that he had gotten her pregnant. It hadn’t even been a week, and she was already feeling strange.
“It’s finally over, is it?” Jean muttered. “Hah, I feel like I’ve aged several decades. This was way worse than dealing with Stormterror.”
Lisa said nothing.
“So?” The acting grandmaster looked at the librarian, eyeing Crimson’s gift in her hand. “What’s this book he gave you?”
Lisa glanced back at her, taking a moment before responding.
“Information about the magic of his homeworld and how we can harness it.” She revealed, tapping on the hastily-made cover. “Etherflux, as it says right here.”
“I see.” Jean hummed. “And what can it do?”
“I’m not sure. I’ll need time to study it.” She replied with a shake of her head. “But from what little I read so far, it’s very powerful.”
“Hmm…” She paused. “You seem surprised.”
“I thought he’d try to fool me again and give me something useless. Bringing my hopes up just to crush them for his own sick amusement.” Lisa sighed, rubbing her temples. “I didn’t expect him to stay true to his words.”
This came as a surprise. Or rather, what truly surprised Jean was the tone Lisa took when talking about him. Just a few days ago, she’d spoken about him with a loving tone, as one would expect from a lover. Now, she sounded sick and tired of his existence.
Now that she thought about it, Lisa had shown a similar attitude when they’d ‘pleased’ him together. Was there something Jean had missed?
“I almost wish he did such a thing.” She continued. “At least then, I’d have an excuse to hate him more.”
“I-I see…” The acting grandmaster was unsure of what to say. “You seem particularly displeased with him. Did he do something to upset you before he left?”
Lisa remained silent for some time, causing Jean to feel anxious. Had she said something wrong? Thankfully, the librarian then turned to look at her, and with a straight face, she broke out the news.
“I’m pregnant.” She said. “I’ve been pregnant for a while now.”
That would do it. It wasn’t as if Jean would be pleased about her own pregnancy either.
“Ah…” Jean blinked. “…I see. Congratulations.”
Jean wasn’t as taken aback as she expected to be upon hearing that. It was something expected from them as his wives. Especially considering that Lisa had been intimate with him for some time now.
To think she was probably bearing his child as well. Probably most female Vision wielders in the region, including her beloved sister…
Jean wanted to cry.
However, that also confused her a little. If Lisa was expecting a child, then how come Crimson was so ready to leave Mondstadt? Didn’t he desire children? Shouldn’t he at least stay here until the child was born? Unless…
“Did you tell him?”
“No,” Lisa answered.
There it was…
“Why not?” Jean frowned. “I’d imagine he would want to know something like that.”
For a moment, the librarian hesitated. Eventually, though, she responded.
“Isn’t it obvious?” She smiled. “I want to keep it a surprise for when he returns. Imagine the look on his face then.”
“Ah…” The grandmaster hummed thoughtfully. “I see. I understand what you mean.”
Jean let the falsehood slide this time. Lisa had a reason to hide this, and Jean needed to show some trust in her, especially after how she had treated her during the acting grandmaster’s… ‘episode’.
Here’s hoping he took his sweet time in Liyue until all the little ones were born.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
– Eula –
They had been on their journey to Liyue for many hours. Up until the sun went down, and they had to set up camp to rest. She was somewhat surprised at her own stamina to be able to walk such a long distance without tiring. They’d never even stopped for a short break. All the while, Crimson had been pulling the cart as if it weighed less than a feather.
Leaning against a fallen log, Eula turned her gaze from the beautiful stars to Crimson, sitting on the other side of the campfire as he had a sip of whiskey from his glass, looking at him suspiciously. Something about this felt fishy. He was certainly very powerful— she knew that much, and he sure as hell could pull a cart like that around, but for that long and without rest? Since when had he been that strong?
She’d defeated him once, and she knew her own limits, so there’s no way he was strong enough to do all of that without breaking a sweat, right? Indeed, it had looked like he’d barely even had to try when pulling the cart with about a dozen barrels and kegs filled with delicious alcohol.
She then looked down at the glass, feeling a smile creep up to her face as she took a whiff of its contents. That stupid brat. She was lucky that she knew how to make such a high-quality product. Otherwise, Eula would’ve punted her across the region by now.
She took a sip of her wine, releasing a contented sigh. She enjoyed the drink beneath the enchanting moonlight in the peacefulness of the wilderness, accompanied by the refreshing evening breeze. Very few joys in this world could beat this.
No monsters or bandits to defeat. No people to save. No responsibilities to worry about. Eula was becoming more and more convinced that she’d made the right decision. This was very pleasant.
Just her, this incredible drink…
She looked up at Crimson, whose eyes were closed, and her face went red.
And her lover.
Eula quickly shook those thoughts out of her hand. No, she couldn’t get distracted now. She still found it very suspicious that he’d suddenly grown way stronger in a matter of days. What was he hiding? Could he have been concealing his true strength during their spar?
But why would he do such a thing? He knew that Eula wanted to kick him out of Mondstadt, right? Why would he deliberately lose to her if that was the case? That didn’t make sense. Unless… Wait, could it be?! Was she actually under a spell this whole time, and that was why she didn’t immediately get rid of him when she won their duel?
“I can feel you glaring daggers at me, my love.” He said with a smile, opening one eye. “What is it?”
This rat bastard. She knew it!
“F-first of all, don’t call me that.” She scoffed, gulping down her entire drink before standing up and pointing at him challengingly. “Second, I demand you tell me the truth.”
“Hmm?” He raised a brow, opening his second eye as he looked at her properly. “What truth?”
“You were hiding your true strength this whole time, weren’t you?” She accused. Before he could even answer, Eula continued. “I knew it! How could you do that? Are you mocking me? Does my honor as a knight mean nothing to you?”
Crimson blinked a few times before responding.
“Are you drunk, love?”
“I’m not drunk!” She said. “And stop calling that! Answer my question!”
“Of course, but let me ask you first. What brought this on?” He asked, seemingly finding her outrage very amusing. “Bit of a random accusation, no?”
“Hmph. What a fool you are.” She narrowed her eyes at him as she approached the cart, pouring herself another glass from a mead keg. “You were pulling this cart for more than several hours straight as if you had forgotten your own strength. I’m not so easily fooled, Crimson. You did not even ask for help, even though I am superior.”
“What kind of a man would I be if I asked a lady to help me in such menial tasks?” He argued, making an admittedly good point.
For a chivalrous man. Which a playboy like him definitely was not.
“Enough of your lies.” She unsheathed her greatsword and dramatically pointed it at him. “Tell me the truth.”
Crimson chuckled and stood up, gesturing for her to come closer. Eula followed him as he led her to the front of the cart. She stared at him suspiciously all the while. That was until he spoke.
“Pull it.” He told her, making her blink.
“Pardon?”
“You’ll understand if you do.” He insisted.
Eula squinted her eyes but decided to humor him. She put the sword back in its sheathe and set aside the glass in her other hand. Crimson backed away to make room for her. She grabbed the cart’s yoke with both hands and pulled it.
Her eyes went wide, and she felt no resistance as if she was pulling air. She was so surprised that she immediately let go of the cart, suddenly doubting her own strength and the world around her. Eula tried again, this time putting in as little effort as possible.
And she was still able to pull it around like it was nothing.
“W-what?” She stammered. “What is this? Why is it so light?”
“It is not light,” Crimson said, resting his arm around her shoulder. “You’re just that strong.”
“That’s not possible.” She disagreed. “I-I’m confident in my strength, but this is absurd.”
“And yet, here it is, right before your very eyes," he replied. “I haven't forgotten my own strength, Eula; you're just unaware of yours."
Eula couldn’t deny it. Was she truly this strong? Was it always the case? No, it couldn’t be. This was most definitely recent. In fact, she knew where this immense strength came from. It was from her duels with Crimson, wasn’t it?
But how could that be? How could simple duels make her that powerful? It didn’t make sense. That’s not how dueling or even training worked. She could understand sharpening her skills against a worthy foe and gaining experience, but such an absurd increase in her physical might?
By simple sparring? What the hell?
“I— This is…” She was at a loss for words. “Wow…”
“Wow, indeed.” Crimson chuckled. “Come. I’m tired, and we have a long journey ahead of us. We should sleep.”
Eula yelped as she suddenly felt his hand on her breast, giving it a squeeze. This prompted her face to go bright red and nothing more. If it was anyone else, she would’ve punched them in the face and arrested them for harassment.
He was lucky he was her lover.
“Unless you’re up for a few rounds?”
Asking questions he already knew the answers to as if he wanted to make fun of her. This bastard. Vengeance will be hers.
Instead of a verbal answer, Eula looked at him with a deep blush, which he quickly understood as a yes. And before long, the two lovers were already kissing as Crimson helped her out of her outfit, chuckling at her arousal.
“Shut up. It’s your fault I’m like this.” She said.
“Oh, it’s alright.” He responded, pushing her onto her bedroll, the chill air on her bare skin making her shudder. That, or it was the anticipation as she waved her rear at him. “What kind of a man would I be if I didn’t take care of my woman’s needs?”
Eula bit down a groan as she felt him slowly spread her insides apart, the tingles of pleasure making her flinch and tremble. Were they going to do this every night? If so, she silently prayed that they took the long way there. She just couldn’t get enough of him.
She didn’t know if it was her emotional connection to him or if it was the carnal desire to be taken like this. Was this what it felt like to be loved so deeply? Was she always that pent-up and horny? Was Crimson that good? She didn’t know, but she loved this feeling more than anything.
Within the first few thrusts, her brave and noble front broke down as she moaned and cried in pleasure without a care in the world. The proud Eula Lawrence, begging this stupid thug to make love to her in the most undignified way imaginable, declaring to the world how much she adored him.
Everyone had a weakness.
Hers just happened to be this bastard dragon and his cock.
