As most of you are aware of my dad has a type of blood cancer and my auntie D (his little sister) passed away from a similar blood cancer on Oct 28th and while everything was going to shit last month I decided to not post anymore sad or negative updates on here anymore because I really want to find the best in these situations and if I can't find it then I don't want to share it.
They had initially found a donor (yes one single donor in the world matched) in the U.K. however she registered as a donor 12 years ago and can not be located (so she either has passed or moved to another continent or something along those lines) so we were back to square one and then they introduced the idea of HAPLO which would have me be the donor - even though I don't match - half my DNA is his, so they will administer him with drugs that have his body ignore my moms part of my DNA.
So I'm finally in a place where there's good news!!!
On Monday I did the very last tests to confirm me as a stem cell donor for my daddy!
He started chemo on the 8th (Thursday) and I started the donor process yesterday (Friday 9th). His chemo is going according to plan and all signs point towards him getting cured!
I'm getting five shots a day until Tuesday to basically have my stem cells overproduce and go into my bloodstream so they can be filtered out on Tuesday & maybe Wednesday. I'll be feeling like shit for the next couple days and on Tues/Wed I'll be hooked up to the blood filter machine for about 5 hours so I'll probably be MIA on social media but listen I've never been so excited to feel like shit in my life! Because that means it's working and I get to save my daddy's life!!!
I'm attaching a Dropbox link that I'll be updating throughout this process with pics of my daddy and I.
This is not all pretty but I thought some of you might like to see a bit of a more personal post.
