Welp... this year is cancelled already.

My baby Badu was diagnosed with a tumor and since she’s a senior pupper the vet does not think getting an operation is viable so in a few months it will be time to say goodbye to my baby.

I’ve had her since I was 3 months old.

I don’t want to talk about it after this post because it hurts like fucking hell to think about.

I love her so much.

After getting that news a week into January I’ve slid into a pretty bad bout of depression and I haven’t been able to do much else but curl up with my baby and sleep and try to get through the polar vortex that’s hit Chicago the hardest.

Last Friday Sam, Essence & I set out to drive to Richmond Virginia for a bunch of photo shoots and a burlesque festival (Afrotease) that Essence was performing at.

Well we started driving after Sam got off of work - left Chicago around 7:40pm and 6 hours later we had barely made any headway because the highway was icy and we slid the whole way - we went 25 - 30mph the whole way. So after seeing multiple cars that crashed off the highway - one was upturned with the lights on and a person hanging in it - we called 911 but I have no idea if that person made it or not.

Anyway at that point we decided it was just not safe or feasible to get to Richmond so we decided to drive to Fort Wayne Indiana to bring Essence to the airport so she could fly to Richmond and still perform.

Well, we did that but it took us until 5am to get there - it’s normally a 3 hour drive from Chicago to Fort Wayne. It took us 9 hours.

Oh and her heat went out an hour into the drive...

Then Sam and I went to an ihop to wait for a tire shop to open up at 8am to get her tires checked because it felt like there was something wrong with her tires - turns out they had dry rot yay.

$300 and an hour later we had two new tires and headed back to Chicago.

Needless to say I had to cancel all my shoots and now I’m missing three photo sets and two videos that I would have shot in Richmond so I’m incredibly sorry about the scarcity of content this month and I will do my best to get caught up as soon as possible.

I fully understand if you’d like to remove your pledge. No hard feelings.
