Amnesia

I hope this month has been gentle to you.
Years ago I happened upon a painting by German artist Rolf Ohst titled “Amnesia”.
I cried when I saw the art work because I had never seen art of a fat person look so delicate and soft and represent everything I try so hard to create with my photos.
I knew I wanted to recreate it someday but never felt worthy enough and didn’t think my photography skills could make it happen but the other day I just decided on a whim to give it a go.
It’s nowhere near what I’d want it to look like but I also don’t hate the outcome.
The title of Ohsts’ work is “Amnesia” and as most of you know I have severe memory loss due to my PTSD and so that title resonates with me deeply.
I hope you find some solace in these images.
