The Market girl

The year is 1421 and since you’re the best artist in your little home town in Tuscany you’ve been hired by the incredibly wealthy Cosimo di Giovanni de' Medici to create a series of paintings for his private collection.

You haven’t been given much information about today’s subject you will be painting and judging by the fact that you’ve been designated to the furthest guest house of the Medici villa to paint today you suspect you may be painting a mistress of Cosimos’.

It’s Sunday and you are itching to finish this painting so you can hurry over to the Sunday market so you can look for her.

Ahhhh…. Her. The girl with the flowing brown hair you secretly follow around the market every Sunday…

You don’t even know her name yet but today might be the day that you finally bump into her and ask her name.

You’re abruptly pulled from your daydream as the door to the studio opens bringing with it a gust of warm August air and the smell of freshly baked bread that has founds its way up from the kitchen…

And there she is.

The girl from the market, standing right in your studio ready to be painted by you.
