Blockhead v0.16.0 alpha

A file browser has been added to the sidebar.

• The file browser captures keyboard focus when you interact with it, meaning you will need to click once on the workspace to make the usual keyboard shortcuts work again. At the moment it's not clear enough where the keyboard focus is so I will try to fix that in the future.
• The file browser can be hidden by dragging the title bar all the way to the bottom of the sidebar

Previewing samples on the filesystem

• Click on a sample once to preview it.
• When the file browser has focus you can also use the up and down arrow keys to preview files.
• Disable auto-preview by right-clicking anywhere in the tree to open the context menu and disabling the "Auto preview" option
• If the sample is long enough, you can click in the progress bar at the bottom while it is playing back to skip around.
• Click the (X) button at the end of the progress bar to stop the preview, or press Escape.

Adding samples to the project

There are multiple ways to add samples from the file browser:

• Double-click a file to add it to the project and initiate sample stamping
• Select one or more files and click and drag them onto the workspace to add them all to the project and initiate sample stamping. You can right-click before releasing the left mouse button to cancel the operation.
• To add samples to the project without initiating sample stamping:
  • Right-click a file to open the context menu and select "Add file to project". The file will be added directly to the sample manager.
  • Select one or more files and right-click anywhere in the tree to open the context menu, then select "Add files to project"
  • Right-click a directory and select "Add directory contents to project". The behavior of this operation will be configurable in the future but for now:
    • The operation is non-recursive, so subdirectories will not be added
    • Only files with known file extensions will be added (at the time of writing, .flac, .mp3, .wav and .wv)

Bookmarks

You can store up to 9 filesystem bookmarks. There are several ways to store or overwrite a bookmark.

• Right-click on a directory and open the "Bookmarks" submenu and choose a slot. When a bookmark is stored a numbered button will appear in the bottom-right corner of the file browser.
• Right-click in the empty space of the file tree and open the "Bookmarks" submenu to bookmark the current directory.
• You can also click and drag a single directory from the file tree directly onto a bookmark button.
• To delete a bookmark, right-click on the numbered button and click "Delete".

Additional Changes

Update: Sudden changes to master amplitude control will no longer cause a click
Update: The sidebar width is now saved to the settings file
Update: Should now work on Linux installs with older GLIBC versions (back to 2.31).
Bugfix: Possible crash on startup if audio stream fails to start
Bugfix: Crash when creating or loading a project if the current audio settings are invalid
Bugfix: Audio stream no longer needlessly resets multiple times during startup. I think this was also the cause of possible crashes on Linux at startup due to multiple ALSA requests being made in quick succession.
