October 2021 Newsletter
Added 2021-10-21 00:23:56 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
Apologies for the extremely long delay on the newsletter this month. We wanted to record some special treats, and it took longer to get it all together than we thought. But that means we have an immense number of cool things to talk to you about. Let's talk about it!
All patrons have access to a cool little Let's Play that we put together of Supermassive's Little Hope. We're releasing an episode a week between now and Halloween (Oct 23 and Oct 30). The first episode is up right now! This is one of the few times that all of the members of Ranged Touch has recorded together, so if you've been waiting for that, then all of your dreams have come true! Should have dreamed bigger!
Released mere moments from now is a very special monthly podcast (for $5 and up patrons). It is available in both video and audio form, and Danni walks Cmrn through his Skyrim install to determine how many mods it takes to make the game, in Danni's words, "good." We also get into his new sartorial choices.
We've got some awesome new episodes of Just King Things since the last time there was a newsletter. We've got mainline series episodes on the graphic novel Creepshow and the novella anthology Different Seasons. We have some pretty extreme reactions to the latter. The bonus episodes are the George Romero film of Creepshow and the Rob Reiner film Stand By Me, both of which are famous and beloved by very different crowds of people. Joseph Fink of Night Vale fame joins us for the latter.
The most recent Game Studies Study Buddies is on the fascinating Gameplay Mode by Patrick Crogan. It is a book that makes the connection between military technology and games extremely clear, and he draws some broader connections between user behavior and technology that have much bigger conclusions attached to them. We really enjoyed it, and we think you will like the episode.
Too Much Future continues apace with Fallout New Vegas. We've been finishing some side quests and getting all of our ducks in a row to finish the game. Remember that backing Ranged Touch at $3 a month or more gets you access to a podcast feed of the show. Check it out.
We've released five episodes of Homestuck Made This World, our critical reading podcast about the webcomic and internet phenomenon known as Homestuck. We are really having a blast walking through the comic and talking about it in detail. If you're afraid to ask what Homestuck is, or you find it alienating in a broad sense, this is the show to help you slip into it like a warm hot tub. Check out the show here!
That's it for this month! We've got some good things cooking with our current stuff, and we're trying to give you as much for your $ that we can. We're also looking at some special bonus incentive stuff for an additional (higher) paid tier than the $5 level, so if you have some ideas for what you'd like to see from us for more money, leave a comment or let us know!
We'll be back next month!
