July 2019 Newsletter

Hello!

Apologies for this being a little bit late this month, but things have been VERY busy here at Ranged Touch headquarters. Lots of new setup and video and audio editing...it's a good problem to have!

The first thing to talk about is our brand new actual play podcast Sword Coast: Coast 2 Coast. CMRN is the Dungeon Master, and he guides Michael H, Mary, James, and Jordo through the dangers of the Forgotten Realms. It's a great show so far, and episodes are going to be coming out every Monday and Wednesday for the next little while. You can subscribe to the show by checking it out here.

The second thing is Game Studies Study Buddies, which continued in June with an episode of Johan Huizinga's Homo Ludens. The buddies read this truly bewildering classic and have some strong opinions about it. Check that out.

In the world of video, CMRN has been streaming Final Fantasy VII on the Ranged Touch twitch channel, and you can check out the YouTube channel for VODs of that stream. They've been very fun so far, and there's been a lot of discussion of how the hell this weird game will be remade into something palatable for players.

There's also new videos about politics in games, how to play Magic 2020, and our new favorite discord game Project Winter. We strongly suggest checking that last video out because it provides a very good overview of what that game is about in less than an hour.

Sadly, there is no Ranged Touch podcast this month. CMRN recorded an awesome episode and accidentally lost his side of the audio and did not have enough time to record another one. He'll make it up to you!

Here at the bottom of this newsletter we will announce that this month (hopefully) we're starting a new show called Too Much Future: A Fallout Show. It's the spiritual successor to Mages & Murderdads, and it features CMRN and Michael Lutz playing through the Fallout games. The first episode is already recorded and whew is it a doozy.
