WELCOME.... to the NEW TIER!
Added 2022-07-03 18:35:09 +0000 UTCWooooooooo!
First off, I'm incredibly grateful and excited that you are here with me. I appreciate your support, encouragement and enthusiasm more than you know. I think this is gonna be really cool :)
We'll be kicking things off this Wednesday with episode 1 of the The Rise of Bangtan series.
Details:
Date & Time: Wednesday July 6th @12:00pm EST
Link to Livestream: meet.google.com/zue-imqf-jif
Also... I have some questions & I'd love your help:
- best way to consume The Rise of Bangtan series (YouTube links? Other source? Best subs?)
- how do you suggest I consume deleted scenes/extra content? Do I watch extra stuff after I watch the entire series (or are there certain deleted scenes that correspond with specific episodes?)
- links to albums (I'm thinking about watching/listening to lyric videos of albums), so do you know if this all available on YouTube?
- order of album listening... I'm thinking the obvious choice is chronological (earliest to newest)?
Days/Times:
- there will likely be a dedicated day (& time) of the week devoted for this tier (i.e. BTS Wednesday's with Max) but I may poll how we consume all the content (i.e. Week 1 = RoB, Week 2 = RoB & Week 3 = Album, OR, Week 1 = RoB, Week 2 = Album & Week 3 = RoB).
We can chat about all of this and more on Wednesday and try to flush out some details. Totally open to feedback/thoughts and looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
Hope you're all having a great weekend.
- Max
P.S. Listened to RM's new podcast. Made me happy. We can chat about that on Wednesday :)

Good news! My job interview is done early so I’m going to try to join :)

2022-07-06 14:54:40 +0000 UTCLina above makes a good point about looking at lyric analyses instead of just straight translations. There’s a YouTube channel that does “a Korean explains (song title)” videos with added context, and I’m sure there are other sources too. Maybe if you decide to do more of this level of analysis, you can ask the other members for suggestions. I’m sure there are more good options but I’m not a big music person so I haven’t really sought this stuff out.

2022-07-06 02:41:55 +0000 UTCHi Max .. I think this might be my first comment .. not exactly sure .. First, I would like to thank you so much for dedicating this tier to BTS content .. (I am a huge fan 😅💜) For the rise of bangtan, I would vote for watching the deleted scenes and the bonus with the main episode since they are related .. I also support the chronological order of the albums, I think that would make the most sense. As for the live's time .. I've never been successful at watching any .. It is a 7hrs difference and I could never remember 😅💔... I will do my best to remember it this time..
2022-07-05 14:15:32 +0000 UTCSince you are diving in deep and it's a chill Patreon community you might be able to use something different than lyric videos for the music reactions. Just today I found this Twitter Account (many Army probably know him) and started to look into his lyric translations and analyses. Just the recent one for J-Hopes new song explains pretty much why there is a need for a very good translation to get their lyrical genius. https://twitter.com/ColinSH3/status/1543678712704823296?t=b5wavxJ_iNjfLZSdwAArcA&s=08 I was pretty sad to realize that also the official hybe translations are not that great.

2022-07-04 18:03:52 +0000 UTCCool! I was wondering if Max was going to try to double up episodes or intersperse other content with this or whether he was planning for this tier to be a year long bts origins project.

2022-07-04 17:35:12 +0000 UTCThink we'll still get other content like "In the soop" or "Burn the stage" on the Platinum livestreams :)
2022-07-04 17:21:46 +0000 UTCHaven’t seen these yet but I’ll be there on Wednesday to join you for the journey. Question: since there’s 21 (eventually 23) episodes and you’re doing 2/month, does that mean it will be a year before you get to different content?

2022-07-04 08:10:51 +0000 UTCYeah I do want to reiterate what maira said above ! Ep 1 is more context about K-pop in general but the rest are all much more bts focused. I’m very excited !

2022-07-03 22:46:53 +0000 UTCYes to watching bonus close and deleted scenes straight after each episode please. I think the extra scenes start from episode 3 but double check 😌

2022-07-03 19:21:28 +0000 UTCLet’s just close our eyes and dive in. Uhuuuuuuuuuuu!
2022-07-03 19:16:32 +0000 UTCAnd yes to watching the episode + deleted + bonus scenes in the same go :)
2022-07-03 19:12:21 +0000 UTCDefinitely a fan of chronological order for albums :) Ep 1 is more of an introduction into kpop and pre-debut BTS and ep 2 focuses around the time they released their first album so listening to their first album after ep 2 I think would make for the smoothest transition :)
2022-07-03 19:11:32 +0000 UTCI'm happy that you're on this journey with me! Very exciting.

2022-07-03 18:56:32 +0000 UTCI am super excited and looking forward … Sorry Max but I’m almost as much a newbie as you. I am thankful because we have amazing experts in this community!
2022-07-03 18:55:32 +0000 UTCThanks Alina! Oh right, Doolset. I know some people mentioned that. This may be a good way to go about it -- I'll investigate. And okay good to know about the MVs, that could be something cool to incorporate :)

2022-07-03 18:53:11 +0000 UTCHey Max :) 1. Rise of Bangtan is available on this Youtube channel, where the creator of this series is posting the episodes https://www.youtube.com/c/TheRiseOfBangtanOfficial/videos 2. Almost all episodes have a deleted scenes clip and a bonus scenes clip (approx 10 min each) which I would definitely suggest watching right after each episode (which is usually around 30 min) so this will results in approx 50 min watchtime per "episode" 3. Lyric videos are available on Youtube for sure, if you let us know when you plan to listen to a certain album, a number of us can provide links beforehand (also a good resource for written lyrics is the doolset website which will often provide context around Korean culture and such, which allows for better understanding of cultural references in some cases) 4. For every album there are around 2 songs that have music videos. I would also suggest for those songs to watch the MVs (which have lyrics as well) because in most cases, they will contribute to the story that is being told 5. I would definitely think it would make the most sense listening the albums in chronological order, the Rise of Bangtan episodes and the music will pain the full picture of their journey and I think this would be the easiest to absorb it and enjoy it to the fullest. Looking forward to Wednesday!
