TXT x 30 Questions | Communication Analysis (Uncut: 18 mins)

I would be really interested to see your reaction to an interview TXT did, MMTG Ep: 205. The host is very fun, and I think it's a really cool one to show some of their personalities a bit. Beomgyu and Taehyun have a cute segment that kind of shows some of their differences in a fun way, and overall I think it's a really good interview.

Max I really advise you to react to their rolling stone interview. The full interview is around 17min I think. Huening Kai led the interview so so well he didn't look the maknae there. I was really proud of them for how they handle this english interview and also the host was really nice! Honestly I think you'll be in shock with Kai ahah

Maf

I hope you react to NCT (127, or DREAM) more, they upload a lot of interesting videos, kind of like Stray kids in terms of communication overload. Would be great videos to analyze interrelationships in the groups I believe

Mia Fisher

they have had an extremely busy schedule it's hard to see it take a toll. he assured us he's okay and not to worry though I think we should take it as he says it is!

@Geniya I agree, but see you already have the answer (=communicating is also knowing what *not* to say). I personally wouldn’t find it interesting if Max’s input was ‘that shouldn’t have been said’, because we all know it already. For this matter specifically, I don’t think choice of words is what matters the most, but if it is, it’s not like Max could really help, since he’d be relying on the translation, and wouldn’t understand the possible subtleties or intricacies of the words used. Plus I think for people who already know about this controversy, they probably have already heard what most people think, which is that it’s not okay and shouldn’t have been said. It’s not like it’s new information that we shouldn’t talk about people’s weight/bodies (especially publicly), so really, I don’t think Max’s area of expertise is particularly relevant for this topic (especially because if you want to dive deeper into it, you need a good understanding of the korean culture, and I don’t think Max knows enough here). Just my thoughts of course. ^^

Pauline

Yes Im worried too but Beomgyu said he is ok so please try to stay positive and give them love.

Carla

I really love them. They are super genuiene ,I feel they say alot of times things that are not typical idol ,they are really not afraid to tell what they thinking and super confindent about his looks and personalities.I really love other groups but after Bts I feel a strong bond to them idk why maybe bc they are super refreshing. Please do more reactions about them.I found funny how you talks about V, Yeonjun and Hyunjin and they are my 3 bias. Thanks 🤗

Carla

yeah, not trying to defend them at all, it was wrong and it’s never a nice thing to see or hear from people with so much influence. I hope they’ve seen all the concern for sunoo online and will learn to be better since this has happened with them on a lot of occasions. I also hope in the same way as talking about skin color was also very common for idols, but after getting so much backlash for their colorism/racism, it’s finally decreasing, the same can happen with all the fatshaming done in the kpop industry.

Cayt

@Cayt, I understand your point, however, there are some universal lessons we can get from it. Racism is very common too, but it doesn't make it okay. I don't think that just because it is common to comment on someone's appearance in SK, it doesn't affect them as much. Also, Enhypen is a group with global presence, so we can't just give them a pass for things because they are Korean. Additionally, since this channel is in English, most of its audience is probably Western, so I think Western pov should be still valuable to the audience as long as it is done respectfully

Geniya

It’s not right by any means, but the culture plays a big part in those comments, which makes it incredibly difficult to dissect the nuances if you’re not apart of a similar culture. At some point, I’ve seen nearly every group comment on a members weight or doing it themselves. They all know it doesn’t feel good, which is upsetting because why do they do it right? But weight is a lot less taboo to talk about for korean people (if the fact that it’s mentioned so often says anything). I think someone who does cultural studies would be more suited to dissect the intent. It’s indeed a problem though, and worth pointing out to the members so that they understand how harmful it can be.

Cayt

@Pauline I think a big part of communication is choosing what to say and what not to say and a lot of people lack this knowledge. Also, choosing different words can really help with the message. Since Max is a communication coach, I'd be interested to hear his perspective on this. I am aware, that a lot of people come here to hear the praise of their idols, but I am interested in constructive feedback as well and maybe I am not alone. This is just a suggestion either way.

Geniya

I see what you mean, but I would say it isn’t so much about *the way* things were said, but rather the fact that they were said in the first place, you know? Not quite sure Max could teach us anything there :l

Pauline

@Pauline well, there is some kind of communication problem since so many people got concerned. So it would be a good learning opportunity to see what could have been done better. I am sure we all have said things that hurt other people's feelings at some point and it would be nice to see how to handle it better

Geniya

May I ask why? What insight do you think he’d be able to provide? /gen

Pauline

I already liked TxT’s music, but I hadn’t checked them out otherwise until a few days ago. You’re videos are super helpful! I’m liking Yoenjun and Soobin’s energy, though Hueningkai is standing out to me

Heather S.

I am not sure if this is something you would be interested reacting to because it is rather controversial, but there are a lot of talks about body shaming in Enhypen towards one of the members. I would be curious to see your reaction to the live that got people concerned.

Geniya

loved this one

Cayt

It would be cool to see you react to Soobin being an MC! There is a really good compilation video called MC Soobin making everybody fall in love with him! Also Soobin recently did an interview that I think would be really great for you to watch (here is the link) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQjEehs6-dU&ab_channel=%EC%B0%A8%EB%A6%B0%EA%B1%B4%EC%A5%90%EB%BF%94%EB%8F%84%EC%97%86%EC%A7%80%EB%A7%8C

Claire

Moas, have you guys seen rolling stone interview they just did? I knew promotions on tour exhausted these groups, especially because they can do multiple on concert days, but wow.. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Soobin say so much with his eyes in the few minutes Beomgyu was trying to make it through. It’s worrying how rough he looked, I just hope it’s not the stress making him sick. With the death threats him and hyuka have been getting on top of this, I can’t imagine. I’m almost nervous to see them in this round of promotions because of everything going on. Really hoping they cancel tonight’s concert for his sake. Tough to watch him struggle like that, because we all know how much he tries to hide it. Maybe it’s not that serious but coming from him it looked like it.

Cayt

Kai and Taehyun are same age friends. They’re the only ones each other doesn’t need to defer to, which always brings comfort. You might be interested to know that in a recent interview Soobin did, he said bighits company culture really emphasizes the age factor koreans have. Hyuka is the standout extrovert to me, which is why he can feel like the center. Soobin is on the other end and the other three sit in the middle honestly (when they’re not in idol mode). So Kai is always the quickest to talk and is confident in speaking no matter the timing, even though he can be a little awkward. In a few years I could see him being known as the must charismatic. Yeonjun has said Huening out of everyone reminds him of his younger self, which is very fascinating. To me, both Yeonjun and Beomgyu remind me of Taehyung at different points in his life, Beomgyu more in behind the scenes settings. Leadership transferring is an excellent description, they’re very aware of each others strengths, so they all show it in different settings. It’s nice to see them take the pressure off of Soobin being loud in these settings, knowing his first inclination is to listen rather than talk. He could be the loudest if he wanted to, but you can tell he trusts them in that regard. And yes, korea is not a big market for kpop groups which is why they market themselves so internationally.

Cayt

You're right that HueningKai and Taehyun have a special relationship. They are the only members that are the same age and they're best friends. Yeonjun, Soobin, and Beomgyu tend to run in the same social circle and are close friends with other groups like Ateez, Stray Kids, and The Boyz as they have members their age. But Taehyun and Hueningkai are younger than those groups and even though they're extroverted and socialize when they need to, they never really made close friends like the others did. My point is that Taehyun always talks about how Hyuka is the only person he has and they do basically everything together. I think they really understand how much the other means to them so Hueningkai always looks to Taehyun for support and security, while Taehyun loves being around HueningKai and essentially considers him his soulmate. I think they really appreciate each other's presence and they have an amazing friendship.
