Hi Aliesha :) The people on the chat were mostly referring to how his at the time stage "persona" (just for lack of a better word), which was that of a tougher looking guy with all the heavy chains, heavy eyeliner, the abs flashing and so on, was different from the really sweet and gentle guy we were seeing in the behind the scenes moments and how later on, when their concept went in a different direction too, it allowed Jimin to show a side that was closer to his more naturally sweet and gentle disposition (of course with a good amount of sexiness mixed in too :D) It's hard to convey all that in short messages that Max can pick up in the chat (instead of really long paragraphs) , which is why Cayt (who was on the live as well) came with the additional clarification and context in that well written comment, to make sure that our messages (or at times just pieces of messages that Max was able to pick-up on) were not being misunderstood and Max was left with the wrong impression :)

Cayt did a good job explaining some things, and PLEASE tell me if i'm misunderstanding, but I don't like that the comments were telling you that Jimin was putting on a face, bc that suggests that he was acting fake the whole time, which he wasn't. Like come on he just started and ppl are already calling him fake, he was only 18, anybody would feel awkward. Idk, I know the chat means well but it just sounds insulting when it comes from other ppl about Jimin. I suggest you watch Jimin's vlive where he talks about it at some point. Context on Jimin- hes the one thats said he struggled bc he thought he had to present himself more masculine and felt a lot of pressure about that to the point that he couldn’t be himself. He’s also said he feels better now that they have concepts where he can express himself. So to an extent, he would put up a front on camera when it was important. The other members have also talked about his early struggles. His younger personality was still very charismatic, despite the self consciousness and uncertainty he’s talked about. He’s always had a ton of personality and used to be super free with it, but he got ton of hate for many things he was insecure about in the middle of their career (+ a lot of death threats) and got a lot more reserved. The hate has maybe noticeably affected him the most. Common topics around this are 1- he was the most active online for a long time, and now is the least engaged 2- intense dieting that caused him to passout in practice a few times. He’s known to be incredibly hard on himself and I think he protects himself more from the public now to get by, so that might be why it seems like his walls are up more (he also has that crazy dancer composure). The playfulness has always been apart of him, he just struggled in his head a lot about his identity, though he’s very good at hiding it when he wants to. The series gets to some of their personal struggles eventually, you just shouldnt go months without this info.
