Stray Kids' 2 Kids Room - Hyunjin x Han (Uncut: 51 Minutes)

Comments

Ah yes Hyunsung, the most chaotic duo and known as the dumb and dumber in group, Han being the one with the bad ideas and Hyunjin the one who goes along with those said bad ideas lmao. But Changbin is a part of that too sometimes😂 I love this trio: https://youtu.be/BlSnXul9Z58 Han betraying Hyunjin: https://youtu.be/C6L-sWB7cbU some cute and fun moments between the two: https://youtu.be/MijwXKhFnlU https://youtu.be/3JZ2LTsgLkU

I hadn't thought about the sleepiness thing, you're right there.

Han is my husband's fave and Hyunjin is my fave. It's kinda funny because personality wise I am very similar to Han. Thank you for all the compliments😎 Also my husband is closest to Hyunjin in personality. 😊 Han makes a space feel more inviting and I feel if Hyunjin started whispering, an entire room would go silent to listen. I really enjoyed the video. Got me thinking a little about my son starting college with "the unknown" roommates this year. All the fun of ego and stuff. 😵‍💫 I'm probably more concerned than he is.

for me i feel like hyunjin is one of the easiest members to read he wears his heart on his sleeve.he says all the time he is very sentimental and he is a very deep guy.i think he is one of the guys who is expressive of his emotions he may just not be one for group expression of emotions he may be more inclined to do it in a one on one setting rather than a group setting.my favorite duo the infamous rap better dance better friendship.i love that they always match each others chaotic energy all the time. this is also the happiest i have seen hyunjin as well. man literally laughed through out the entire two kids room.Han does spark the light in hyunjin but i believe Han lights up n a different way with hyunjin than when he is with others .

That’s interesting! I think you may be on to something, though I have to say, tired Hyunjin will absolutely look for physical comfort. Leaning on them (physically), putting his head on their shoulders, sleeping on their lap, he definitely does that. If you want to see a recent example, when he joined Felix during his tiktok live, they were tired because it was after a concert, and you can see Hyunjin resting his head on Felix’s shoulder. But I guess it’s true that unless he’s tired, he only reciprocates or shows them love physically when *they* need it. That’s a very good point :)

I did have to pause and laugh at the 'he's not a good candidate for luring away with candy' part, because that's almost literally what happened when he was a teenager. Hyunjin is so interesting to me. He seems to be deeply empathetic and emotional, to an extent I think he's quite insecure about himself for fear that he could hurt someone without meaning to. I relate to that because it's something I struggled with growing up, even the smallest hurt you cause someone can make you feel like a terrible person. In his position in the public eye, and with the situation last year where he said he was essentially horrified to realise his thoughtless words as a young teen had stayed with someone, I think he's become quite careful and guarded with his communication. Both Changbin and Han now have expressed a mild (friendly) concern for how Hyunjin can isolate himself in his room or from touch/companionship a little. Hyunjin and Chan's 2KR was interesting because I think they can be somewhat similar in emotional habits of hiding vulnerability and seem to connect a little on that. Han however I definitely agree is a mood maker. It's interesting what you said about his and Hyunjin's dynamic being important to the group because if he can draw Hyunjin out then everyone will be up. It made me think of Han's dynamic with Lee Know. There's a clip in particular I thought of from when they were competing in Kingdom. Lee Know was really exhausted during that time and there was a clip of him in the dressing room looking drained and staring somewhat blankly at his phone not really responding to anyone. But then Han just says small something to him, makes a little joke and Lee Know suddenly smiles and gets that soft happy gaze. Han seems to have a gift for being able to bring a moment of joy to people no matter their mood. When Hyunjin was a little emotional at the recent concert Han hovered around him and hugged and kissed him and I believe told him he was doing well. When Lee Know was struggling because of a mix of equipment error and coming down with covid Han stayed by his side and tried to engage him in little moments to make him smile, whilst not pushing if he didn't get a response. It makes me think back to when Han returned to doing fansigns after his short hiatus due to social anxiety. You can visibly see his anxiety during that fansign, but the group and staff were so supportive, Chan made a brief announcement that commented how well Han had done to be able to try this and that if he needed to take some breaks and go back stage we should all support him and understand. And throughout everyone just gave him space, the staff were giving him thumbs up and encouragement from off stage, the members would come and stand by him but not directly engage him unless he sought it first. Lee Know stood by him and engaged him a little but noone drew attention if Han wasn't responding or stepped back a little. It was a really visible demonstration of how well SKZ as a whole seem to know, understand, and accommodate each other. And still now you see those moments, during the Gone Away unit MV filming they worked with a group of actors and Han was finding it a little difficult with all the new people, during that filming Seungmin sort of took the 'leader' role, leading their official greeting and thanking staff, despite Han technically being the oldest of their unit so it could have been expected to fall to him. In vlogs you'll hear Han mention that he and I.N were planning to go out to a cafe but they were waiting for when it might be quieter. I think Han went from not really understanding people too well to knowing the people around him really well and wanting them to always be as happy as possible. Han's joy seems to come from being able to make others feel joyful. I think Han's had one of the biggest growths in the group, to begin with he was a bit cocky and arrogant, but he's said as he met each of the members he suddenly had to compete and learn how to work hard, and understand them and feel for them. I really love Han because I feel like he has such a good heart, but he also had to actively learn how to communicate that, which feels somewhat reassuring to people like me who also had to study social skills a little vs picking them up naturally.

Ixaala

For me I always felt Hyunjin's skinship thing was less him disliking touch full stop and more- in SKZ there are some members who take comfort from touch. Like if Han is tired or embarrassed he will go to a member and seek cuddles or skinship, he'll hide his face in their shoulder. Felix seeks touch in all forms when happy, excited, sad. Even if you look at the concert speeches, when Chan broke down he reached for his members and wanted to touch them. Changbin often seeks physical touch when happy, he'll high five or pat someone's head etc.. Whereas Hyunjin sees that other people like skinship, he was the first to hug Chan when Chan started crying. He will hold Felix and reach out to I.N, but it always seems to be about the other person. For Hyunjin himself I think if he's tired or sad he withdraws. I think Han talking about hoping he would show love more is perhaps him wanting Hyunjin to 'open up' physically. Han seeks contact with people for comfort, reassurance, and love. Hyunjin gives contact, he doesn't really seek it.

Ixaala

hyunjin used to be one of the most loud and expressive people, to the point where fans joked he's a drama queen lol, but the past year and a half was a bit hard for him :/ and honestly he's changed a lot and became more reserved (understandably). i mean, he also just grew up more but i think it has a lot more to do with his situation last year. He still hasthat 'drama queen' side to him but it's rare and i think that had him put walls up, even if he already had a few to begin with.

Angie

I love the 2Kids Room videos too, they guve such a deeper insight into the members and their group dynamics. I hadn't heard that about I.N. and Hyunjin, that's crazy! I'm still a fairly new Stay and there's so much I haven't learned/watched.

Rebekah

Cayt that’s a good point! I think you may be right, it’s probably not about skinship in general, but rather in the context of when they’re flirting with each other. I can’t wait to be fluent in Korean and to get even more familiar with the korean culture so I understand these things better lol And I agree with everything else you said too :)

Pauline

Heather I totally get it. I think it also took me a second to figure him out, (though for me Lee Know was the hardest member to crack) but yeah, once you see his most vulnerable sides, you can’t help but feel protective of him and see his sensitivity in everything he does. And I feel the same about him with Seungmin and Jeongin, they really feel like brothers and it’s fun seeing the three of them together :)

Pauline

Im also thinking something must’ve been lost in how it was translated or even stated. Maybe he meant physical affection in a flirtatious way (with the context that changbin was talking about han hitting on hyunjin)? I’ve seen hyunjin be affectionate very genuinely or to care for the members that love affection, but I’m trying to think if (besides I.n) I’ve seen him be affectionate as a way to hit on the other members. I could be completely off on that though, I’ve never consciously tried to distinguish it before now. His mind and his emotional skills are so impressive. I think it’s underestimated how deep of a thinker he truly is, He’s such an artist. Cant put it into better words than you did. Gotta love all these guys. It’s awesome to see how much every member works their way into our hearts☺️

Cayt

Hyunjin was the last member of SKZ I got to know because he was on hiatus when I first started getting into them. My initial impression of him wasn’t great because he did seem pretty cold and closed off, but now I adore him (even though I’m still a Lee Know bias 😊). A huge part of the perspective switch I got was from the 2019 concert statement where Hyunjin broke down. I remember crying, and couldn’t believe how sensitive and emotional he was. I went back through some other videos I had watched and really got an appreciation for him. Also, him comforting Felix while Felix cried for ~45 minutes at their last Seoul concert was so sweet. I saw that Hyunjin has said multiple times that Felix is a fairy, an angel, and a sensitive person who needs protecting, but it really showed how much Hyunjin cares for him. I really liked Hyunjin’s 2KR with Seungmin as well (and his with I.N.). I love how excited he gets with them.

Whats been gathered by them, Han actually was the harsher one with a bigger ego early on (and considering just how many fights with almost every member he got in, it makes sense). It is notable that he did a few of years of elementary school, but was mostly homeschooled in Malaysia until he moved to Korea to train, which might be why his social skills were underdeveloped, especially because of the probable language barrier (I think he was getting by in English? but his pre trainee life is a huge mystery.) There was a time in the fandom where people assumed he didn’t finish school, but he revealed that he tested for his elem, middle, and high school qualifications when he was 15ish/which also would’ve been around the time he became a trainee. He had the 2nd longest training period after Chan, and both of them are very well rounded, which is why he might have been seen as someone to look up to +3racha was established and performing predebut. It’s interesting that Han is really close with the easier to misunderstand members (Hyunjin/Leeknow), which might be the effect of him making other people comfortable about being themselves.

Thanks for keeping up with this series, I hope you’ll keep it going (this volume is almost finished). It really is special that we can be like “I wonder what their relationship is like” and then there’s an entire series dedicated to it that’s a few volumes deep. I wish every group had this. Maybe you’ll check out an earlier volume someday. Or just a younger skz in general. Hyunjin is a really deep thinker and a really caring guy. Born to be an artist in every sense of the word, He grows so much on you. And Han has really seemed like he’s in a good place recently, he’s come a long way. Most of these guys have insane pre debut stories, so if you think something would never happen, it probably already has. Hyunjin and I.n almost getting initiated into cults on different occasions just being a start. The stories that come out of this series are always fascinating for sure. If you’re at all interested in the older volumes of 2kr, here’s a link https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2HLJ87twWI2KafLrU7TqSswFimAAm4SD and this is 2kr + 1 (so 3kr?) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2HLJ87twWI2OO2u6-eSX3iajSD5EpbxY

I am so happy to find another person who sees Han as I do! Always enjoys your video but I was waiting for this one since I really appreciate their relationship, which was built with much history and I believe that was all meant to reach this point. Thanks for your Stray Kids video!! Will wait for the next one coming! :D

that was such an interesting episode! I’m new on your patreon and joined specifically to watch SKZ content because those guys are incredibly fascinating to me. No matter how you pair them up, there are interesting dynamics going on. what’s interesting is that in the hyunjin/ felix episode the other members mentioned that hyunjin is lovey-dovey (or however you spell this) with Felix. And we’ve seen him be that way with him and also I.N. Now I wonder when he says he’s not into physical touch and we still see a lot of him being physically affectionate it’s maybe because a) it’s a cultural thing and what he calls not physically affectionate is actually a lot for us in the west and b) if he’s so emotionally intelligent that he chooses the “language” his members need for him to show his appreciation and love for them. Well, anyway. Can’t wait to see more SKZ content from you and would actually love to see some comparisons on how the members communicate depending on who they’re talking to.

Christin

Also wanted to say, that these two have said that they’ve become so close because they feel like there is nothing to hide. They don’t have to worry about only showing their good sides to the other, and don’t have to try to force themselves to act a certain way, because they’ve already seen each other at their worst. These two are such a great match. Also - great analysis! Thank you! ☺️

For more context of the “dance better/rap better” argument: They mentioned this on their previous 2KR, and a 2KR with Seungmin and Hyunjin. Before debut they were all practicing together around midnight, and Han kept messing up one spot in the choreo, which Hyunjin would point out. Han lashed out at Hyunjin, to which we get Hyunjin saying “Dance better!”. Hyunjin was working on better annunciations for his raps, so Han replied “Focus on your rap!”. Han ran out, Hyunjin followed, the other guys stopped Seungmin from following, saying they just need space and they’ll work it out. Hyunjin and Han agreed outside to just avoid each other, and try to mask it from the other members. There’s a few more fights they’ve talked in depth about, including the dance instructor asking them all the stand in a line and air out grievances, where Han said something along the lines of “There’s one member I wish would stop bothering me” (but everyone knew it was about Hyunjin). Lee Know + Seungmin = Lovers to Enemies (“Divorced Couple”) Han + Hyunjin = Enemies to Lovers 😂 The amount of maturity Han and Hyunjin have developed is insane. Not only between each other, but with all the other members as well.

Heather S.

Exciting! As always, I agree with everything you said about Jisung, though at this point I think you may be a bit biased because when he just blew away the dust you thought that was funny and clever lmao Now about Hyunjin: I think it’s really easy for ‘casual’ or new fans to misunderstand him or to think he’s cold, the same way casual/new fans misunderstand Yoongi from BTS. If you only watch interviews, since they’re not the type to fake a laugh or speak when they have nothing to say, it’s easy to think they don’t open up or enjoy what they do. The truth is that Hyunjin is an emotional and sentimental person: - He shares his art (drawings and paintings) on Instagram; he usually paints landscapes, flowers, couples, or architecture. - He messages fans on Bubble (a jyp subscription-based messaging app where you get to send and receive messages to/from artists) basically everyday to at least say good night if he doesn’t have time to chat, and he’s also one of the first members to tell us not to worry when they get hurt or sick. Sometimes he shares photos, his art, even pages of his diary. To give you an example of the way he opens up to us on bubble, here’s what he said when his Artist of the Month video came out: “The members keep saving me, I’m so grateful to my friends, family, colleagues. Why am I crying… Actually, I have 0 self esteem these days. It was so so hard. Still, Stay and the members saved me like this again. Have I become someone who can’t do anything without Stays and the members?” - He also really opens up in his concert speeches specifically: in the last big speech he gave, he started crying saying he didn’t understand why people love him, but that he wanted it to last so he would make sure that his existence doesn’t scar anyone (his words), saying his team was so precious, and saying “I’ll work harder so that I remind you of love”. Then he got the biggest hug from his members, and he basically spent the rest of the concert comforting Felix who couldn’t stop crying. In the previous one, he burst into tears talking about how hard everything had been, how he had been neglecting himself and his members because all they had been doing was practicing and working, and how he just didn’t want the fans to leave them. He even had to go backstage for a second while Seungmin went on with his speech, because he was too emotional. But all these things only fans witness/see. Now about the fact that he doesn’t like physical touch, I have to be honest, I don’t get it lol. There is just SO much video evidence that he is affectionate with his members, specifically Felix, Changbin, IN and Seungmin. I think maybe something got lost in translation, and what he meant was that he doesn’t like *receiving* physical affection? Or maybe it’s hard for him to receive it when the person clings to him, which is what most members do lol everyone hits on him (especially Changbin and Jisung). That would make more sense to me. But yeah, if you start watching different types of content from Stray Kids, you’ll see that he’s pretty affectionate. Anyways, I agree with Sarah that his episode with Seungmin might help you understand him a bit better too :) and I hope you eventually get to watch more of him. I would apologize for how long this comment is but you should be used to it by now ^^ Okay now that’s for anyone who wants to see what I’m talking about :) 1) Their instagram to see the photos of his art: https://instagram.com/realstraykids?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= 2) Hyunjin’s speech 1: https://youtu.be/Y2YUZFpf7PE (May 2022) 3) Hyunjin’s speech 2: https://youtu.be/or8Z9Bb3E9A (November 2019) 4) There are many videos but here’s one example, Hyunjin and Changbin ‘lovely moments’ compilation where you can see him clinging to Changbin (and vice versa): https://youtu.be/9_IV-MZ-000

Pauline

Also if he want to see Hyunjin just be relaxed, him and Chan have an amazing chemistry. Hyunjin also shows a very emotionally vulnerable side with I.N and with Lee Know.
