Thanks for reacting to shinee I'm glad you're enjoying them. This was their first comeback since Onew, Key, and Minho returned from their military service and you can tell Taemin is so excited to have his members back and he's the most comfortable around them. Taemin is a performance god and he's just as impactful and inspiring as a soloist as he is in shinee but you can also tell the difference in the way he promotes alone vs. with the members where he can enjoy being the youngest and being spoiled (in the best way) and he has said that shinee is like his home that he always goes back to. Key is so witty and direct but is also very intelligent with an amazing memory. He is really socially smart too and very detailed and deliberate with everything he does he's an amazing vocalist and performer and he has such a magnetic aura (you can also see that with his variety show experiences and solo work) he often sets off trends (along with shinee) without even trying and he's the original all-rounder in kpop (vocalist, dancer, and rapper). Key also has a very empathetic and emotional side to him and has a very thoughtful approach to life. Minho is like shinee's glue and backbone he's extremely loyal to his group and his fans and he's known as shinee world's president. He has this undeniable charm and 'it' factor but also this immense talent and range and he is not afraid to experiment with his projects and show different sides of himself especially in movies and dramas. Onew is the oldest and leader and that sometimes surprises people but it's because of his approach the members are able to have the freedom to shine and you can tell that they have the utmost respect for him and they've all expressed how lucky they are that he's in shinee. He is also known as one of Korea's best vocalists his tone is beautiful and his range is unmatched he has a voice that just pierces your heart. It might be interesting to see his duet performances he adapts very easily to his partners and I think that reflects his leadership style. Jonghyun is a musical prodigy he's still one of the best vocalists in kpop's history and one of the best live performers of all time (with shinee too). He's also one of the firsts in the industry but in SM too to write and compose and produce songs for his group but also himself and other artists (from a young age). He has such a commanding aura while still being charming and sweet and is definitely witty and is probably the only one that can keep Key on his toes. He's deeply empathetic and cares so much about others and social issues. He was a very successful radio DJ as well and that definitely showcases his communication skills. This was longer than expected but I really love shinee and I get excited when someone starts to see that something special they have. If you want to dive deeper you can watch this really great fan-made guide that was released this year for their 14th anniversary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiYLVmCqazg

I think you’d really have a better grasp of why Shinee’s so chill now if you watch the video and it’s sequel https://youtu.be/bb80xyEHEoQ https://youtu.be/IDrU5gp5DXc while BTS is indeed the titans of K-pop today thanks to the global digital community, Shinee and shawols were the precursors of that movement as they were ones who started the trends and setting the standards we now take for granted. They were many of the firsts that later became the benchmark for newer groups to aim for. They weren’t as huge as Big Bang but they were certainly more experimental and daring in terms of paving the way to K-pop evolution. For a group of teenagers set up as Guinea pigs rather than a proper group, they excelled beyond expectations. But I believe that’s also the reason why they’re so raw.

Taemin talks/sings often about his strong desire or "greed" as a performer and as a soloist but Taemin has also mentioned more than once about how lonely and difficult it was at times trying to pursue his solo AND SuperM goals, yet also still maintain/represent SHINee's image and brand to the public for the sake of his brothers and the Shawols. And while I think he genuinely likes the SuperM members and enjoys the opportunity to perform in a group with a different vibe (as a senior with the most industry experience/years and as the second oldest as opposed to SHINee), I do imagine that the combination of his SuperM global schedule and his solo projects in 2019-2021 were quite taxing for him. On the whole, it was an extremely demanding 3 years that just seemed to never let up. I feel like because he went through a very intense time while his brothers were away, once they came back home he went into overdrive. He also was very aware that he was soon going to be enlisting next and would go through 1.5 to 2 MORE years without his brothers and he wouldn't even have his solo/SuperM work to immerse himself in. Everything he needed to do in 2021 became that much more urgent for him, I think. That said, Taemin was just so elated Key, Minho, and Onew were back and so overjoyed to be creating as SHINee again, that for the whole lead up to the release of the Don't Call Me comeback album, he was just giddy and vibrating with excitement. A lot of that really showed through just like in this clip of the team. Even without all of these stressers, he's always so much more open when he's with his SHINee members. He really loves being around them, it's very clear to see.

I would love to see you watch a video of all 5 of SHINee on a variety program like Knowing Brothers, Weekly idol or the Yang and Nam show. I'm pretty sure they are variety hosts best and worst nightmares. They know having SHINee on will give them a highly entertaining show, but SHINee give no sh*ts and are so savage the hosts generally loose control and end up being at SHINees mercy.

Thanks for this reaction! I think you’re spot on about Taemin being in his element. He always seems to be at his peak comfort level when he is with Shinee, more so than his solo interviews or his interviews with SuperM (his other group). Taemin is actually a rather sensitive person and he struggles with anxiety, so I personally think it’s a testament to the psychological safety he feels when he is with his Shinee members. He debuted with them when he was only 14 and he is now about to turn 30. They practically raised him despite being teenagers themselves back then, so Taemin will always be their baby and he can get away with murder 😂 Key even goes to his house to cook for him sometimes.

Ah okay! I didn’t realize. Thank you!! Exo is my ultimate all-time fave so I’ll definitely upgrade so I can get early access to future Exo content! Thank you for checking them out :)

Jaydeekatt

Hi! I usually make it available to the other tiers first, but it should be available for all tiers now!

Max Beaumont

Hi Max! I noticed Exo’s uncut video is unavailable for the base tier and I was wondering if you’ve made changes to the tiers or if it was just a mistake?

Jaydeekatt

Thank you so much for such a warm welcome! 😊

I really enjoyed everything you said about the boys, and you are very surprisingly correct about some things I think most people wouldn’t be able to pick up. Two things you said that stuck out to me were your impression that Taemin is the most involved/excited in the idol/artistry side of things and that Key is the one who is least “idol-forward” and honest. Both are true, but Key is also someone whose dream and passion was to be an entertainer and an artist since childhood, i.e. countless auditions in Key’s case, rather than being street casted to become a trainee. Key is also involved in the marketing/fashion/design side of things both for SHINee as a group, but especially his solo work. I think that being an idol is extremely important for him, but he went about it in a way that was authentic and honest for him, which didn’t result in best outcomes at first. One of my favourite ever videos that exist in YouTube is his public lecture/talk that he did on the streets of Seoul about his philosophy as an idol/entertainer/artist and the ways he insured to become successful: https://youtu.be/-kfHiHJxKtg It’s probably the most honest and serious I’ve seen an idol talk about his profession, and he is an amazing storyteller. While I think that the reasons for his hardships are absolute bullshit born out of extreme conservatism of South Korea, especially at the time of his debut, he never gave up on his dream, but also stayed authentic to himself. I am not completely sure about your policy about people giving video recommendations as a new subscriber, but I hope that you can even just check out video on your own to get a better idea of him as a person, the machinations of idol industry and the way he communicates when he actually wants to be there hahaha. It’s also an unusual set up, basically a TedTalk on a street curb surrounded by fans and passerby’s.
