I’m late to the party but just wanted to add my 2 cents with Woojin. I feel rather indifferent about him, his leaving at a crucial time was odd and upsetting (I hadn’t been into the group that long before he left so I wasn’t as attached as others but I could see the aftermath that the members went through. I feel like it’s not my place to judge him since i and other fans will never truly know what happened so let him go and do his thing and we’ll be with SKZ who are doing their thing. As Max pointed out though, when I watched their content with Woojin, even from the Survival show I felt he didn’t quite fit Stray Kids. Yes they all seemed to love and care about each other but it felt like he was a little more focused on himself (not that I blame him mind you, as a performer and in such a competitive industry you can understand it) whilst the others were more concerned with letting the group down and supporting each other, helping each other, teaching each other so he felt a little off. His musical style also felt like it didn’t quite fit either and honestly his solo stuff suits him way better. In regards to his mind set and music style I think it may have been different because his was both the oldest member and he had trained at a different company before becoming a JYP trainee. It’s not odd for trainees to switch companies so they can get a chance to debut and his experience in singing is what Chan wanted as part of the group, but the others grey up/trained exclusively at JYP (Lee know was in a dance crew but it would have been a different type of training and environment than that of a Kpop trainee). I think as vocalists Seungmin and I.N we’re younger and had less experience and we’re thus more adaptable to the SKZ sound. Whilst Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix were all very new to singing and would also be able to grow as vocalists to fit SKZ sound. Lastly Han, Changbin and Chan were writing the songs so of cause they would suite SKZ sound…. It is their sound! So yeah I always felt like there was a miss step between Woojin and the group. So although it was heartbreaking to see the kids go through such a hard time I feel like Woojin leaving was the right thing since the group feels complete to me and Woojin’s solo work is more suited to him. Do I think the departure was done in the right way, no, it was so close to the comeback and tour that it felt messy and rumours were bound to fly.

Did anyone mention or explain to Max why our Shinee guys were so glum during that Ode to You performance? They were all in white just the four of them, singing Ode to You. This was after Jonghyun passed, so they were probably choking back tears. There are other stages less emotionally draining for them, the one where they wore huge hats I think. they are indeed stadium packers. 50k seats sold out for fan meets. Their concerts world wide have always been sold out in mere minutes. And this was way back when before instant internet social media. It was brutal trying to get in before the lag hits. But worth it. Them and EXO were astonishing in their concerts. I mean I’ve gone to rock concerts like Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, and the adrenaline boost was massive but the performance musicality of these guys are like a rock concert and broadway rolled into one. Shinee had many firsts, cant remember many of them. But I do know They were the first to be invited to perform in Tokyo Dome, and Abbey Road studios, yes THAT Abbey road

Recommend this interview for Shinee, where each member talked more, especially Onew and Key. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UelLiy6fijk&ab_channel=iHeartRadio.

Yeah we don't really know what happened with Woojin but they have made it as obvious as they possibly can without outright saying it, that they're not on good terms with him and don't want to be associated with him anymore. They have definitely tried to erase him from their history by editing him out of videos and thumbnails and making new 8 member versions of nearly all the songs they had with him and so on. And ofc I don't want to judge woojin's character or make any assumptions but in my opinion all of that speaks for itself.

Please react to Rayn Reynolds going on the korean variety show “running men” I remember watching it and I was fascinated by the way he carried himself on the show especially with the language barrier. https://youtu.be/CFhURPN3dDo

They don’t mention Woojin at all. It’s almost like they are trying to erase him. I know Bang Chang mentioned the thing about having a close friend betraying them near the time he left. They went on to re-record everything they had with him. So, they were definitely not in good terms. It was so abrupt and literally right before a comeback. Think about the contracts and everything. He was just gone and never mentioned again. When he left changbin went on to say to continue supporting the group, but he never mentioned woojin or his solo career. So… most people who get into stray kids don’t even know who he is, and I agree, the vibes are very off when watching him be there with the rest.

loved this video! if you want to, you could check out key's solo song "bad love" it's really good and quite recent!

Thank you for the SHINee reactions! The IU interviews with both J-hope and SHINee are so fun, would love to see you react to those! They also perform in those as well!

Susan

It worked, thanks Max.

Oh really? Can you try copying and pasting the Vimeo link in the description into another browser? If that still doesn’t work, please let me know and I will create a new link for you.

Yeah yeah but really he didn’t name anyone. He said he knew someone who broke his promises (actually said *his*, so we know it’s a man) and betrayed his friends and lost everything bc of it. He said he couldn’t go into too much details but that stays know what he’s talking about, so we all assume it’s Woojin. What we also do know is that they were preparing a new comeback when Woojin left, and they had to postpone it and re-record it without him, so we can assume it was a last minute thing, because if it had been planned all along he wouldn’t have been involved in the making of the album. And since it’s really hard and long to get out of a contract, honestly my personal belief is that he was kicked out. Bc again, if he had been planning on leaving it would have taken a while and they would have known ahead of time and wouldn’t have had him in the album. Anyways, they never talk about him, never say his name, all that happened is that after he left Chan posted on social media a sort of letter where he apologized for not being able to keep the group together as 9 people. Haven’t mentioned it or him since. They do now make an emphasis on the fact that they’re 8, saying 8 is fate and stuff, and every year they also release albums of ot8 versions of their ot9 songs, essentially remaking their discography as an 8 member group. Don’t know if I said that right but yeah, English is hard today. Ps: Max, you asked how to say his name, it’s pronounced ‘oojin’, Koreans don’t have the sound woo.

Pauline

Hi! i wanted to add something to the Woojin situation. Bang Chan actually called him out on vlive and said WJ betrayed them (ofc not directly) etc. He was pretty mad so even tho we don’t have any details, the situation must have been pretty serious. They even had to re-record their new album immediately bc everything happened right before their tour.

Hello, am unable to watch. It says connection failed

next time, if you're going to check out txt again, i'd suggest reacting to their latest human idol theatre! i know you really liked the last one since it was just them being natural but the latest one really shows how they've grown since 2 years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk0a6pQW-Bs)

Woojin was accused of a s harassment case however he was found innocent and now is a soloist under a very small company. Both SKZ and Woojin received so much hate for that case. Luckily our boys are making it big now but unfortunately for him it destroyed his future even after being proven innocent by law but who knows what other reasons are there for his sudden departure from the group. Lots of new Stays blindly hate him because of the media but people who were there from the beginning know to respect both our current 8 members and Woojin.
