Emmanuelle 5 (with Monique Gabrielle & Steve Barnett, Air Date: 8/27/93)

(Outro 9:09)

Happy Wednesday, Patreon Pals! Tonight we have a really fun episode from “Emmanuelle“ Week featuring the truly iconic Ms. Monique Gabrielle (with the equally iconic Mr. Steve Barnett 😉).

I‘ve gotta dig up the rest of Emmanuelle week for ya, because this series has a vast history that needs to be explored…deeply. 😉 If JB hasn’t made a chart explaining all the different Emanuelle/Emmanuelle movies (which are still being made to this day!), I’ll make one for us. 🖤

Enjoy, and Happy Scream Week!! (It’s also JB’s 40th Anniversary Week, but y’know…priorities. 😉🖤🖤)

Comments

We all loved it ! Great homage to the original. Lots of great nuggets in there. Loved the salute to Wes Craven.

What did you think?

Oh no way!! That definitely needs to be corrected!!

Interesting. Though I feel there’s an extremely pointed, confirmation biased personal slant to this article. The author wants to color it all as very tragic and harrowing but is mostly using conjecture based on a handful of comments and their own weighted interpretation. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle, per usual. Laura likely wasn’t nearly as hedonistic as she’s often painted, but probably far more so than this article allows. The author clearly dislikes this sort of film and that colors the whole piece.

Not this account! https://lostgirls.home.blog/2021/03/31/the-exploitation-and-redemption-of-laura-gemser/ This also points out that Emmanuelle was based on a quasi-autobiographical novel/memoir, FWIW.

Moviegique

Surprising since it's not like they're two mainstream bombs from Sony like Hudson and Ishtar.

It’s interesting when Joe Bob asks Monique if Emmanuelle is pure male fantasy and whether any Women could actually be like her. By most accounts Laura Gemser pretty much was.

Mr Trick

Both star Laura Gemser, but they're two different movies.

In fact, I think it might've been one of those free weeks, and they were using it to entice people in to paying for both Showtime AND The Movie Channel.

Moviegique

I kind of love that "Emmanuelle Week" was mainstream enough to be on Showtime instead of TMC. I remember that at the time, too.

Moviegique

Isn't that with "Black Emmanuelle" Laura Gemser? 'cause those aren't...uh...kosher.

Moviegique

I am 98.999% sure that the first time I ever watched JBB it was during one of the many Emmanuelle films. Memories…

Is Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals considered a "real" Emanuelle/Emmanuelle movie, or is it a cheap imitation? (accept no substitutes)

Going to see SCREAM 😱 on Saturday !

Happy anniversary JB thanks for all the blood breasts and Beasts the drive-in will never die

I recently tried to stream an Emmanuelle movie but couldn’t find any available anywhere 😢
