The Texas 27 Film Vault with Special Guest John Bloom

One of these days I'm gonna be early with a pre-show #FBF post fer ya, but clearly that day is not today! ;) Once again just under the wire, here's something a lil' different but still super cute fer ya.

This is from a show named The Texas 27 Film Vault, which ran on KDFI Channel 27 in Dallas from 1985-1987. In this very special episode they covered the "rebirth" of Joe Bob Briggs. (If they only knew what 2018 had in store for our beloved JBB... ;)

It's clearly just recorded from a TV, so the quality is not so great, but I think that makes this lil' clip even more fun, honestly. It's a total nostalgia bomb, and I completely feel the excitement of all those people waiting to see JB (and The Stuff!!) If I could DeLorean myself back to this night I'd be right there with them...hoping I was cool enough to be one of JB's Bodyguards. ;)

Enjoy this blast from the past, Mutant Fam, and I shall see you in > 30 mins for a brand spanking new episode of The Last Drive-In!! :) xoxoxo

Incredible to think that this kind of thing would normally be lost to time, but it’s resurrected thanks to The Lost Drive-In!

Wow, talk about time traveling to a more innocent time. That was a great blast from the early days, and a sad reminder of the kinds of local television station programming that no longer exists.

that one chick..... "but i got a hotel room...."

WOW! I absolutely LOVE this! Talk about a time travelling experience to the 1980's:D They literally don't make stuff like this anymore. 100% NOSTALGIA!:))) Really miss that local t.v. station feel we just don't get anymore.

This is absolutely ridiculous and i love it! "Who is Joe Bob Briggs. WHAT is Joe Bob Briggs?" that's the eternal question.

Thank you for posting this one. I must admit that I had seen some brief clips of this show before and really loved the KTMA/MST 3k style of it. It looks like they had a ton of fun making that each week. Wow! Was Joe Bob ever young back then!

I think with your deadly ballet kicks you'd take the head off anyone who got too close to the body you were guarding. Then you'd carry him off the stage just like Kevin Costner did in that film but I forget the name of it.

This is great, it simultaneously reminds me of old KTMA Mystery Science Theater 3000, and this old show that my old local Fox affiliate used to show on Saturday nights called "The Only Thing On". That's where I discovered stuff like Troll, Rawhead Rex, and Godzilla 1985 as a VERY small child.

Oh wow, I may have watched that on KDFI, I moved to DFW from NY in '86.
