The 1992 Hubbie Awards (June '92)

Happy Friday and The Last Drive-In Day. my freaky f(r)iends! For once I am here reasonably earlier with my lil' Friday extra so you actually have time to watch it before the show tonight, if you'd like! :)

Today I bringeth thee another edition of the Hubbie Awards! I love these and I'm pushing him to REALLY bring these back next year! We are bringing them back in July during the Mutant Fest Awards Show at the Drive-In Jamboree, which is awesome (and I'm going to see if we can set the stage up something like this and get all fancied up for it like a "real" awards show! ;), but I really want to do them where everyone can watch 'em & include films outside of the ones just submitted to us. (Not that those aren't great, mind you...I just want to include everyone!! :)

Speaking of the Jamboree, I have some AWESOME news for everyone I've spoken with about it. It's taking me a while to get back to you individually bc they haven't decided exactly how to handle the ticketing aspect of it yet, but if you got stranded on Saturday you WILL be good to go! I'll confirm it all with you personally once they finalize how they're doing it (either will call or by sending everyone out their own private ticketing link).

As always, I'm light years behind on messages here (and in email, and Twitter, and IG, and Snap, and Slasher, and everywhere else, really, but Patreon gets #1 priority and I'm still so far behind! :( Catching up just as fast as I can, though, and I'm seeing lots of folks thinking that if I didn't see their message before the original Blu Ray cutoff they weren't going to get one. Definitely NOT the case, so don't fret! Patreon keeps track of when you signed up, so you will get your Blu even if it takes me a while to see your message.

I think that covers all the pertinent biz for now...Enjoy the Hubbies, and hopefully we'll see you tonight at the Drive-In!! (Stick around after the 2nd movie, if you can. We've got a lil' something special cooked up fer ya! ;) xoxo

Really nice words for David Gale here.

Yes. Roger Corman. When he first did the awards.

Love my Blu Ray!!! You are the best for creating this Patreon, releasing the Lost Drive-in, and making The Last Drive-in a tradition!

Saturday Tix fix would be fantastic! I thought it was strange they weren’t selling an all weekend pass like most festivals do. I was so bummed I had to leave Saturday morning just to come back Sunday morning. You’re Da best Darcy!

Yes! Bring back the Hubbies! Bring back the Hubbies!

I received my blu ray just the other day! So happy you put Phantasm 2 on there. That was my favorite episode because of the memories I had watching it with my family. I had no idea Phantasm 2 even existed. Then all of the sudden Joe Bob announced the movie and my mind was blown. Phantasm 1 was my favorite horror movie as a kid. I didn’t have the internet. No one in my family even knew there was a 2nd movie. Hemi Cuda, 4 barrel shotgun, flamethrower, tall man, Gold sphere, crazy priest. All equals Awesome memories:) Thanks for the Blu Ray!!!

Matt G.

Did anyone ever turn up to accept their award? I would hope that someone would have realised the immense honour that was being bestowed upon them.

That was very entertaining! Do we know if Wesley Snipes still has his award, or was it lost in his tax problems?

I'm a fan of Naked Obsession. It's actually a pretty good movie. It stars William Katt (Greatest American Hero) and Rick Dean, and features Maria Ford. Its got a much better story than you expect from a Skinemax flick - it has an actual story! And characters!

fun fact, after that movie, Blake Pickett actually found a more respectable job as the dealer on the TNN game show "Top Card"

The Saturday night tix news is FANTASTIC! Patreon rules! Any talk of a Patreon-only meetup are the Jamboree?

Happy Joe Bob Day ♥️🖤♥️
