Friday Fun AND Joe Bob’s Thought of the Day

I figured I’d combine ‘em instead of blowing up your notifications. 😉

This is a lil clip that didn’t make it into the Boggy Creek vid I posted on YT a while back. It was our very first look at The Apache Drive-In (aka The Porn Drive-In) in Tyler, Texas. I just thought it was cute & might put a 😃 on your face tonight.

And here’s what’s on JB’s mind right now :

What's the definition of an Oldie? When I stumble on a station advertising Oldies, I expect Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Elvis--not Boyz II Men, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day.

And while I'm on the subject, whatever happened to those stations that used to play Big Band music?

I think the term Oldie should apply only to music that no living person remembers.

Blind Lemon Jefferson. Benny Goodman. Guys in monasteries that do Gregorian chants. "Do the Lindy Hop." Minstrel shows.

If you're gonna go Oldie, GO THE FUCK OLDIE.

(Patron Saint PS- I'm sending out another round of merch for anyone who needed a size we didn't have available. You should be getting your tracking numbers tonight. ❤️❤️)

Whoa that Apache place looks awesome! Curious what kind of porn they show, classic, modern, or everything in between? Would be rad to see some old school nudie cutie/ nudist films there

We have a jazz station in Rochester NY that still plays Big Band music

I feel like we need to do a Drive-In meetup at this one… 😋👌

🥰❤️❤️

When he stopped to laugh at my dumb lil joke, I knew we were destined to be homies. 😋

Thanks for showing a glimpse of the Apache Drive-In, Darcy. In your quick view of the old concession stand, I was looking for the projection window, but didn't see one. Do you know if they have the projector running up at that little box towards the front instead? At first I thought it might've been a garbage can, but then my thought was that it's a video projector up there - which wouldn't have nearly the throw of an actual film projector. Mrs.Shemp and I are hitting our second drive-in of the summer up in Washington State in a few weeks. There are still (5) operating in WA, and I think we'll get to see (3) of them before the snow flies. Awesome to meet you at Movie Madness a few weeks back - I'll have some new stickers ready to send to you here in a week or so. :)

Reminds me of the saga of WCBS-FM in NYC. What I loved about that station was they good djs. There's a college station near us that plays old radio plays, pretty sure the original audience is gone.

We had a Porno Drive In outside Erie Pennsylvania back in the 1970s Me & My Friends weren't old enough to go though!!!

Another amazing thought of the day, thank you Darcy!!

Heh heh. Yeah we are. 😆 Waiting for the JB&D travel series. SRSLY!

There was a music channel here called Vintage TV and I turned it on one day and heard the music of my youth. This was 90s music. And this was the early noughties I heard this. I'm not old and definitely not vintage. At most I'm past the best before date. This is quite spooky as I was watching Boggy Creek II last night...it was the MST3K version though.

Awww. That makes me super happy to hear! 🥰❤️❤️❤️

Stephen Foster and John Dowland or GTFO!

Every time someone calls 80s and 90s music "oldies," I die a little like Donovan after drinking out of the wrong grail in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Stop hurting me, radio!
