Joe Bob’s Thought of the Day: Monty Python Edition

When Monty Python created one of the greatest production numbers in the history of film, "Every Sperm Is Sacred," little did they know that, 39 years later, legislatures in the United States would be trying to codify it into law.

Yeah exactly. It certainly doesn't benefit the Republicans to have this happen right now LOL. Yeah there have been plenty of times they wouldn't need to destroy the filibuster to pass a law legalizing some forms of abortion. Also, another issue that will eventually come up is is someone can be charged for having an abortion when they cross back over into an anti-abortion state. This should have been dealt with a generation ago, but it didn't benefit ONE SIDE to do so. Then they couldn't cast their political opponents as boogie men rather than just fixing the problem.

They also passed WHPA (Women’sHealth ReproductiveAct) back in September 2021 in the House but it didn’t reach enough votes to overcome the Filler-buster in the Senate. They asked to suspend the Filer-buster in this vote in the Senate but it was denied. So they did try but I do agree it should have been made a law a long time ago.

Today the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass a bill protecting abortion rights for the second time in less than a year. The vote on the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), which passed 219-210 , came just weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v.Jul 15, 2022

You do realize both parties use abortion to help them get re-elected or elected into office. What you should be asking is why did the Supreme Court overturn Roe and why did they “Leak” the fact they were going to do so. Then ask yourself how did we get there, what was set in motion, who was funding and leading the charge on overturning Roe?

Joshua Sherwood

1. When was that? 2. The Court didn't block a law. Roe V. Wade was not a law.

Peter Bernard

A bill was brought to the senate to codify roe v wade and it failed because not one Republican voted for it. Even if they did there is no guarantee the Supreme Court would just block it again.

That's probably the nicest thing JB is gonna hear about his age today. 😁

When the Supreme Court decision handed down Roe V. Wade, I think Joe Bob was like 12 years old. You're telling me IN ALL THAT TIME, the Dems couldn't pass a law legalizing abortion? They just passed a pork barrel bill whose title claimed it reduced inflation even though the Congressional Budget Office said it will RAISE inflation. Not ONE Republican voted for that, but they rammed it through. You know what would actually get a few Republicans to vote FOR it? A BILL LEGALIZING ABORTION NATION-WIDE. The Dems will never let that happen, it's an issue they use to raise money with. All that mob have left is "Abortion Good" and "Orange Man Bad."

Peter Bernard

Yeah but we all saw what happened in Kansas. Very few actual voters want abortion laws changed, most Americans of both parties want it kept safe and legal. Republican voters are much more concerned, it seems to me, with actual 21st century issues and not this, which only reached the courts because the Dems thought it would help them fundraise. Please.

Peter Bernard

But luckily we can still use the excuse of "How do you know that sperm is mine? It doesn't even look like me."

Holy Hell! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Oof, that song hits so much more differently now. What a strange world we live in. But on a lighter note, yay Monty Python.

I've had this exact same thought! 😅 Great to be on the same wavelength as JB - even if it means we're now living in a world where reality and satire are indistinguishable! 😶

The fact that Joe Bob is a Pythonite and a Marx Bros fan. I realize I have found liked minded troublemakers 😁 .

Lol and Joe Bob Briggs would start #pimpshoe 😎
