Anyone been on a military base right before noon? Everyone runs inside so they don’t have to stand outside and salute during the anthem. Anyone go to a football game before 9/11? Other than the playoffs the Anthem was an afterthought. Baseball was the only sport that the anthem was a tradition during pregame. I stand for the anthem when I serve and during events. I also don’t care if someone has another version. Always though America The Beautiful was a better song. If you get upset about another anthem then take a hard look in the mirror. People fight for everyone’s rights, not just yours.

As someone so far away that I am aware that sports was happening it's more of a reminder that the summer blockbuster trailers would be getting unleashed.

They sold football and not social grievances . The year every game became about who kneels or not and what race is the team owners and how many of each race plays for said owner or other things that were not football or whatever the sport was. That’s when ratings nosedived . We love hobbies and sports cause we can pour our passions out into it . If we become that passionate about our jobs or wives etc you get ridiculed . But body paint and cosplay screaming at top of lungs for sports is totally acceptable in the culture . Hopefully sports leagues do not continue selling the game but shoving social agendas and grievances that is where politics and storytelling arts are better suited for addressing such topics .

The more sports woke things up ( or anything else for that matter ) the lower the ratings get . Kneeling for anthem was a ratings killer that scored those players healthy endorsement contracts and viewership tanked at that time . The “ Grinch’s “ will stay home and tune out .
