Leptostomia - Chopsticks for a Beak!

With jaws as long and slender as chopsticks, Leptostomia was a Cretaceous oddity, a pterosaur that evolved to probe deep into soft mud, snatching burrowing invertebrates hidden beneath the surface. Its elongated beak was finely tuned for precision, acting more like surgical tweezers than a traditional pecking bill. Paleontologists believe this flying reptile may have stalked coastal flats and riverbanks, silently sweeping its head in search of prey, much like a modern-day curlew…only stranger.

But Leptostomia is just one glimpse into the strange and spectacular world of the Cretaceous.

Get ready, pterosaurs, the true rulers of the skies, will also take flight in my upcoming book Snapshots of Prehistory. From dagger-beaked fish-snatchers to towering, giraffe-sized giants, these winged reptiles will be unveiled in vivid detail alongside forgotten creatures like Leptostomia. This is more than a book, it's a time machine.

Stay tuned. Prehistory has never looked so alive!
