Olorotitan - The "Giant Swan" of the Late Cretaceous

Olorotitan is a fascinating genus of hadrosaurid, or “duck-billed,” dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 66 million years ago, in what is now eastern Russia. Its name, meaning “giant swan,” reflects its graceful appearance and long, ornate crest. This large herbivore could grow up to 9 meters (30 feet) in length and was distinguished by a unique, hollow, backward-curving cranial crest, likely used for visual display and sound resonance. Olorotitan had a robust body, strong limbs, and hundreds of teeth specialized for grinding tough plant material, making it a highly efficient browser of Cretaceous vegetation. Its discovery has provided valuable insights into the diversity, behavior, and evolution of lambeosaurine hadrosaurs in Asia.
