2023-02-14 02:31:47 +0000 UTCIn 2019, during peak Trump, I had to step away from politics. I was a supporter of The Skepticrat, Scathing Atheist, Cog Dis, and a handful of other atheist news collators and content creators. However, Trump got to me. I had to start going to therapy. I lost a lot of my innocence and faith in humanity. I cancelled all my subscriptions, stopped listening to anything political. I had to take time to get my head in the right place and recover. Since Biden got elected, I started slowly dipping my toe back in the waters. I started supporting God Awful Movies, Citation Needed, Dear Old Dads... and Opening Arguments. That latter, no longer. I have to say, I am glad I am a stronger person now than I was in 2019. If this happened then, this would have been the killing blow to my involvement with this community, perhaps even the killing blow in more... literal terms. However, these past few days of reading Google doc dumps, screenshots, apologies, official statements, and news articles, not to mention hearing recorded statements from every creator in my life who matters, has lit the fucking match. Not only am I back in with my financial support, but you'd better believe I've already put my name in with CAN. Let's see what we can do. Let's never let this happen again.

You learned what happened, acted appropriately, and are taking action to guard against predators getting into your " house" again. I wish my grandparents had been that strong.
