Is there a hair under the label directly over the C in Carlson? This looks as maddening as cell phone protector film. Thanks for the tips, I'm going to give it a try.

Joshua Brown

7665 is a Canada only label. 8665 looks similar though as pointed out doesn't specify laser. The only other full page clear on Avery's site is 4397 - diy sticker. Spec'd for the wife's cricut, laser or inkjet, only 7 sheets. anyone try 4397?

Joshua Brown

I’m slowly and I mean slowly obtaining parts. I just purchased the 3 variable pots, they are 1/8 watt. Is this sufficient and if not, what wattage should I be aiming for?

John Parker

You technically don't need a power on indicator since either the Audio or Detection LED would be lit when the circuit is powered. But if you want one, an LED with series resistor from the 9v power rail to GND would work.

Hugh

Hello Everybody, I am almost done with this project, so far all is good, except for ON LED, is it just a red led with a dropping resistor connected to the switch, or there is another connection point for it? Just want to make sure I don't drain the battery to fast.. Thank you

Reboot your computer, and try a different user name. Someone may be close to (or already is using) the same name.

Is anybody else having trouble registering on the forum? It says username has illegal character (I’m only using my name, nothing else) and Captcha failed.

Paul, for the protective coating I found a really good clear matte finish that is compatible with toner in that it does not contain any acetone which you know disolves toner. It is Krylon Low Odor Clear Finish. On the bar code it is labeled " 7120 LOW ODOR MATTE". It works great for coating the top side of a toner transfer PCB where you want to seal the toner based silk screen nomenclature. I am sure this would also work well to seal any artwork where you have used a lacquer based paint on a surface as well.

Thank You for your kind feedback Maria!

Mr Carlson's Lab

Mr. Carlson, you are making the World a more beautiful and better place through your work ! We cannot thank you enough ! Everything you do here is so inspiring for us all :D

I ordered the paint off of Amazon and got this message today. Delayed at Customs Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint - Satin White, 340 g Where is the made?

Larry { N7LUF }

Paul, great video as usual. In coming up with this process did you try cutting out a step to save time by using the sticker as the drill guide? I wonder if you could carefully drill through the sticker without tearing it all up by starting with a very small pilot hole and working up to size.

I can't get the off-white labels imported into Japan without paying ridiculous amounts of money, but I can buy clear matte labels from A-One that might work instead. Clear labels would also allow us to use any color paint instead of the heirloom white paint Mr. C recommended. Wouldn't that be more practical and give us some more choices to use?

kmpres

Let us know how it goes.

Michael, KE4EST

Michael, thanks for the recommendation and I concur - I just received my pack of 8665s and they seem to be the right ones for the job. They have the split on the back, and although they say they are for Inkjet (not Inkjet & laser like Mr. C's), I tried them on a laser printer and they worked just fine. I'll be trying them for real on a new project in the near future.

Andrew Cockburn

Nice! I used a similar technique for my VS-1 vectorscope, only I glued the foil on a brushed aluminum panel rather than painting it.

Keri Szafir

I am looking to see this being done with other of your projects Paul, please.

Larry { N7LUF }

Hello mr carlson! I really love your videos they are very helpful. I would really like to see if possible a simple design for an fm reciever. Keep up the good work!!

Vaggelis derdelis

Looks great, Paul! Thanks for the suggested finishing products and the look at your professional results. I have employed much the same method as yours in the past but not gotten the same results. Maybe now I can once I find some equivalent products here in Japan. Thanks for the forum, too! I shall try to use it often!

kmpres

Oh, yes....please do ! :) I can't wait to see it please.

Ovi4

Great tips. As is customary with any of my Carlson projects, my daughter in law has done the artwork for my Ultraprobe. It makes it into a family affair, very enjoyable. She is proud of her work and so am I. It is nearing completion and I think you'll love it. Can hardly wait to put it on the Forum.

Leonard Peters

Thanks for your input Chip!

Mr Carlson's Lab

I have used an inkjet printer before, depending on the ink, it does work. The Super Probe artwork is from an HP inkjet printer. Try a scrap label/artwork before though, just to be sure your ink doesn't run.

Mr Carlson's Lab

I only have an inkjet. Does the clear coat work on that o.k.?

Tom Harris

Mr. Carlson, I was wondering, with all your videos on Patreon and YouTube, have you covered all that I would need to know about high voltage safety to work on vacuum tube equipment? I ask this because my efforts to find books and videos on the subject have yielded very few applicable results. So far, what I have found from Google searches cover mostly house wiring or outside power lines. While most of what I have found on YouTube, is information you've already covered. If there is more to cover on the subject, could you please do a video or series on that?

Chip

I ordered from Avery, I'll post the number on the package when I get them. On Avery's site, Search labels, clear, and 11". There are 2, 1 is slit.

Jason Myszka

Finally I can now get the art work done on all my Mr. C projects using this method.

John E Barron III

You got me looking, and not finding anything.

Larry { N7LUF }

I just ordered 2 packs

Larry { N7LUF }

Not sure the 8665 is back slit. Looking on Avery website they show back slit and no slit with no part numbers

Jason Myszka

That makes every bit of sense. Thanks for such a quick response! I'm so excited for this.

Marshall Lewis

WOW, I can not believe how fast the forum is growing. At last check 141 and growing. I could see problems ahead with an open forum and breaking the rules. It would take people keeping an eye on 24/7.

Larry { N7LUF }

Very nice work Paul, now to order before it can not be found. This seem to be my problem lately not finding what I need to build. I should not have a problem here.

Larry { N7LUF }

Lots of people signing up, the system may be backlogged. Also check your junk or spam folders just in case

Mr Carlson's Lab

I attempted to create an account, but I am not receiving an email for password creation. Any ideas?

Marshall Lewis

Awesome job on the forums, I will most definitely be posting a small something about myself there :)

Raoul van Saanen

It appears the Avery 8665 is the one for the US.
