When I woke up it was late I could just see out of my eye the other one was swollen and hurt like hell when I touched it I managed to get to my feet as my left arm wouldn't work that well and my hand was feeling num but I managed to get to my feet and walk to the end of the alleyway without throwing up I think then I saw Stacy's shop all lit up and I started walking to it.

The next thing I knew I was in Stacy's arms on the floor of her shop with her telling me help was coming and I'd be alright then there were police and paramedics.

I woke up 3 days later in the hospital with Jennifer holding my hand she was asleep in a chair next to the bed I didn't see Mum.

When I tried to move I cried in pain and woke Jennifer up she said don't move I'll get the nurse and she ran to the door and yelled something.

The next thing I knew Julie was beside my bed as well and a nurse was taking my pulse and she looked like Julie I tried to ask what day it was and all I could manage to say was a weird squeak then a straw was Put in my mouth and I was told to drink the cool water helped and I tried again.

What day is it? Jennifer said it's Saturday and we're meant to be shopping but some prick beat you up so we're stuck here until you get better.

Where's my mother?

Jennifer said the nurse sent her home she has been here most of the time but she keeps crying.

I said well I told her I'd get beaten up if she put me in a dress and I tried to laugh but winced in pain the nurse said don't do that with a smile then she got serious and said there's a police officer outside and she would like to talk to you if you're up for it?

I nodded and she went to the door and called the copper in.

It was the female officer who arrested Jack and I asked her before she could ask me anything.

I said. Why did you let Jack out

She asked was it, Jack Granger

I told her it was and that he had 2 other boys who helped him.

She then introduced herself to everyone

I’m Officer Britney Johnson and she sat down beside my bed and started talking to me about nothing really but Slowly Officer Johnson got the story of what happened out of me.

She did ask Jennifer and Julie to leave once but I wouldn't let Jennifer's hand go and Jennifer told the officer flatly that she wasn't going anywhere and the nurse told Officer Johnson that Julie was her daughter and Alex's friend and Alex needed her friends to help her through this.

Officer Johnson asked the nurse to stay as a witness as well

I told Officer Johnson how Jack grabbed me and through me against the wall how he blamed me for getting him arrested that he was having to repeat the last two terms of school because of me and how he punched me over and over again as the other boys held me up so Jack could hit me and how they finally dropped me and how I thought it was finally over but then all 3 of them started kicking me and the last thing I remember was Jack stomping down on my head repeatedly.

I told Officer Johnson how I woke up later and could barely see through one eye but somehow I got to my feet and then to the end of the alleyway.

I told them how I wanted to throw up and lie down every time I moved or that's how it felt but I wanted to get to the light.

When I got there I saw Stacy's shop and I knew I'd be safe there so I kept on going.

I don't remember getting to Stacy's shop I just remember lying on the floor with Stacy hugging me and telling me help's coming then there were police and paramedics and that's all I remember till I woke up just before.

By the end of the interview with Officer Johnson.

I was crying and so was everyone else even Officer Johnson had a tear in her eye.

Officer Johnson said. Well, I had a hunch it may have been that toe rag but some of the dip shits at the station thought it was Ben Waken seeing as he's disappeared even if the evidence said it wasn't him.

His mother said he'd gone to the shop after coming home from his last exam and the CCTV footage at Stacy's shop and the street cameras shows Ben at the shop getting the items his mother asked for but when he left he gave the shopping bags to some girl guides and some cash and asked them to take the shopping to his mothers in half an hour which they did.

The street cameras then show Ben walking down the street and getting into a truck and all this happened while you were walking to the shop so with your statement I'll get everything moving to get Jack and send him away for a bit.

I asked Officer Johnson Will you keep looking for Ben or will you let him go and have a better life?

Officer Johnson said Ben's 18 years old so if we find him we'll just ask him to let his mum know he's okay or we will do it on his behalf and let her know he doesn't want to talk to her for now but maybe in the future, he may change his mind.

To that statement, Jennifer said not likely.

Officer Johnson smiled and said well if any of you can contact him or if you know anybody who can contact him.

tell them to tell him to contact the closest police station to show that his alive but he doesn't want to talk to his mother and they'll pass it on to me as I've had his case assigned to me.

Officer Johnson said goodbye to everyone and told me to get better and don't worry about Jack she'll deal with him and I'll let Stacy know you're awake then left.

I fell asleep after that when I woke up mum was there with a lady doctor and she was saying there's no permanent damage other than the scar on her head but her hair will hide that I'll check on her for you every day Jenny.

Mum said thank you.

The doctor said what are house sisters for if we can't help each other?

she looked at me and smiled then said goodbye to Mum and left.

I looked at Mum and said I told you I'd get beaten up if you put me in a dress.

As I expected Mum just waved it off and told me I did very well in my exams and she was very proud of her girl but I'd have to stay in hospital for a week or so as I had 2 broken ribs and the rest bruised or cracked.

You have a severely bruised stomach plus they dislocated your wrist and hip 2 black eyes and a cut lip and you're still suffering from the effects of the concussion so you have to be on IV antibiotics to stop any infection and moving without assistance is out of the question as one of the broken ribs may move and poke a hole in your lungs so my girl you'll have to stay here but you're chess club friends said they would come by to keep you entertained and I'll drop your tablet into you tomorrow when I come in and she kissed my forehead and left and Julie's mum came in to change my IV.

When I was sure Mum had left I asked if I could call Julie she smiled looked around and pulled her phone out of her pocket opened it and handed it to me then clicked favorites and I saw Julie's name and I called her she answered after 2 rings and said hay mum I said no guess again Alex how are you feeling a little better but I was wondering if you could call Jennifer but don't text and ask her to pick up some books from my place and drop them off to me but more important is could she pick up my old tablet which is hidden under my shoes but she can't let mum see her get it and then can she get Jeremey to get any bugs off it then drop it off to me before mum gets here tomorrow.

Julie said she'd call her and if she didn't get her she'd go over to her place.

About 2 hours later in came Jennifer and Julie and handed me my old tablet and my new one with a message from mum saying she wouldn't be in until later tomorrow afternoon as she pick up her car as it took longer to fix and everything else that has happened and Jeremey cleaned your old tablet so you can look at anything or email anybody you like.

Julie's mom came to the door of my room and asked Julie to come and talk to her.

When Julie got outside away from everyone she asked Julie for the full story of Alex.

Julie sat down and told her mum everything about Alex, Jay, Sam Tom and Ben.

Julie's mum was mad but she stayed calm and asked if that was why Ben ran away Julie said Yes only Alex and Jennifer know where he is and the rest of us don't want to know.

Julie's mom said smartly.

Julie could tell her Mum wasn't happy and asked what was up. She said she'd been reading Alex's chart and he's supposed to have a disease that stops his body from making testosterone but I’ve read all his old test results from when he was younger and he had plenty of testosterone it's only in the last 3 years his levels have been dropping and now he's sterile but there's still testosterone blockers in his system you can just see them now in his blood tests as his body isn't making any testosterone but he's not written up for any.

That means someone is giving him them without anyone knowing Also he's got higher than normal pheromones in his system but with the fact that he's sterile and how pretty he is he will be better off as a girl.

Julie was speechless and then said we have to tell him because he would never take them willingly as they all know what will happen to them.

They'd be like Sam and Tom.

Sam and Tom warned Jay, Ben, and John about the health drinks and vitamin pills their mothers gave them.

So Jay, Ben, and John managed to either spit the pills out or throw up as soon as possible.

So Alex knows not to take any health drinks or pills and he would be suspicious of anything his mum gave him.

Julie's mum said the meds can be put into anything and who's John?

Julie explained that John is Jennifer's older brother and he ran away when he just turned 15 and she hasn't seen him since he turned 18 about six months back.

And what do you mean by anything?

Julie's mum said for the best results pheromones should be injected but the next best method is diluted in any fluid and taken orally the next is tablet form so if I was going to give someone pheromones without their knowledge I'd put it in anything with flavor.

Julie said shit mum so his mum could have put it in his food or anything. Her mum said yes love.

When they got back to Alex's room. they heard Jennifer telling Alex that John is studying computer science and programming and will have his degree by the end of the year.

Alex asked how was possible he should have just graduated from school.

Jennifer said after he got away from mum he got into a program of higher learning with the help of Dads little sister and he got through school in a year and a half then he started his college courses and he said once he starts working he'll apply for custody of me as he thinks he's got enough evidence of abuse but he'll run it by a lawyer first before he shows his hand.

Alex said that's a good idea does John know about Ben, yes they have been emailing each other and when Ben gets a new phone they will talk.

I've heard from Ben too he's going to be in the next intake for the army he has to do basic training then serve for one year then the army will pay for his law degree then he has to give them 7 years to pay them back then he'll decide whether to stay in or practice law.

Alex said I'm glad it's working out for him.

Jennifer said Ben's little sister Beth came to see me today asking me if I knew where her brother is.

I asked Why do you want to know From what Ben told me you used to tease him and get him into trouble.

She said yes I did but I found his old journals and I didn't know how miserable he was and even though I got him in trouble he wrote how much he loved me but he also said how much he hated mum I'm starting to see how mean mum was for petticoating Ben. and now that Bens not around she's not being as secretive as she was and I've found her old journals as well

I've read how Mum tried to change Ben with pheromones that were so wrong to do that without Ben's consent I'm not sad that she's miserable now.

Alex said. Do you think we can get her to copy the journals for us?

Jennifer said maybe she'd have to do something for me to trust her.

Alex agreed.

Julie asked if Alex wanted anything like food or drink that he's used to having every day

Alex said now that you've mentioned it I'd love a big glass of milk I always have a glass of milk at the end of the day when I do my homework.

Julie looked at her mum and she nodded and said milk is perfect I'll tell him, Julie.

Julie shook her head and said I'm his friend's mum so I'll tell him.

So Julie told Alex and Jennifer what her mother found in Alex's chart.

Alex and Jennifer were quiet for a while then Alex looked at Julie's mum and asked If I said my chest is saw and my nipples are sensitive what would you say Jennifer gasped and Julie's mum said That your breasts are growing and you should have little mounds growing do you mind if I examine your chest? Alex felt like he could trust her she talked like his mother used to speak to him when his father was still alive.

Alex asked her who was the lady doctor that his mother was speaking to?

Julie's mom asked Alex to describe her Alex said she was about the same age as my mum light red hair just past her shoulders good figure but not a skinny beanpole.

Julie's mum said.

That was Doctor Bonnie Miller she's a top plastic surgeon.

Alex asked Jennifer isn't that the name of Sam and Tom's doctor.

Jennifer said yes I think it is

Alex said she called my mum a house sister whatever that is

Julie's mother spoke up a house sister is someone who is a member of the same house in college in America they call them frat houses where members are voted in.

Alex said that she went to Cambridge College and lived in the same house as my mother he asked Julie to give that information to Jeremey as it may help with his search

Julie said Jeremy said he’d come up and see you in a day or so.

Alex asked Julie's mum are you sure about me being sterile I don’t remember being tested?

Julie’s Mum explained. From what I’ve read in your chart the emergency doctors were concerned that when they put the catheter in you there wasn’t a normal reaction so they treated you as if your spine was injured and when your spine was cleared they started looking for something else it was then the hard copy of your chart showed up as they had only had your online chart and isn't as detailed as your hard copy chart and it said your body doesn’t produce its own testosterone and they ruled that you are more than likely sterile but you are written up for tests when you’re healthy now I’m going to ask you some questions and I’m not trying to embarrass you so please be honest.

Alex had tears in his eyes ready to flow any minute.

Alex looked at Julie and asked when is Jeremey coming to see me? Jennifer and Julie both smiled and Jennifer said to Julie I think Jeremey needs to come in tomorrow early Julie said I agree I think he should.

her mother asked why this Jeremey had to come in? Julie told her mum Jeremey is into computers and is a black hat. Her mother said. in that case, it would be better if he came in to see Alex tonight as I'm on till midnight and I could get him to help me with my laptop as it's playing up and I've got an assignment that I need off it she said with a wink as she left saying she had to check on her other patients.

Julie was already on the phone with Jeremey telling him what had happened and that we needed him big time Just as she got off the phone her mum popped her head in to see if we needed anything and Julie told her Jeremey would be in at 6 and could stay as late as you needed him to fix your laptop Julie's mum said that would be great and told the girls to cheer up Alex.

so the girls got me playing chess and being girls.

Alex's dinner showed up and Jennifer took one look at it and went to Julie's mum and asked her something She clicked away at her phone and then showed it to Miss Robinson who nodded and then said to us Dinner will be here in 20 minutes.

I looked Questionably at her then looked at the tray just inside the door to my room.

Jennifer said I wouldn't feed that to a dog she then looked at Julie and said I hope you like Italian.

After dinner Alex dosed off and the girls talked quietly.
