Ch. 250 - Ghost Hunt

"How many times do I have to tell you kids to not disturb Mr. Plover in his study?! My naive brother already takes care of you wretches and you repay him by leading him into such wicked temptations!" A woman in an old timey matron dress shouted at us.
Sheesh. Gaslighting much?
Your brother is a pedophile lady. Don't blame the kids for his sins!
Margo stepped forward, raising a hand at the woman as she shot back.
"Listen lady whatever y-"
But before she could finish I stopped her, pointing at the box.
Margo's eyes went wide as she realized and she went to take throw the box when the old woman apparated before her grabbing her my her hands.
"Misbehaving children get put in the quiet place!" She hissed.
Well, shit.
I can't let Margo go to the quiet place.
Why?
Because I need to go there first!
The storm cellar at the back of the house or as the banshee bitch calls it, the quiet place is where she buried the bodies of the kids she killed. And in the pockets of one of those kids is the magical button that allows for travel between worlds.
Now that it's come to this though, I guess plans need a-changin'.
And there's a simple solution to my problem.
I immediately clad my hands in nen and psyche force and did the only thing that I was sure would anger her more than us being in her brother's study.
An insult to her self and her evangelical christian values.
Yup. I grabbed her by the pussy.
"Hyeeee!" She shrieked and let go of Margo, whirling around to face me.
Her hands swiped at me but I already anticipated it and jumped back, giving her the middle finger, signalling the others with my eyes.
Eliot realized what I was going to do and stepped forward, worry in his eyes.
But it was too late.
"Wow! Your pussy's drier than the sahara! I even felt some cobwebs down there. It needs some spring cleaning lady. I guess you're not expecting visitors huh? Though I guess that no surprise." I looked her up and down mockingly.
And it really was true. She looked like such a stuck up bitch I bet her name was something like Faith or Constance or- Oh! I remember now.
Prudence. Prudence Plover. That's her name. Sounds comic book-y. Like Peter Parker. Or Wade Wilson.
"You devil child! How dare you!" She raged lunging at me.
I smiled.
Here we go.
"Come and get me bitch!" I flipped her the bird and ran off into the hall.
"It's up to you guys now." I sent a message to Eliot with my technopathy as I ran off.
"Don't let my sacrifice be in vain!" I added, attaching a dramatic scene from a telenovela as a gif.
Yeah. That should do it.
Turning the corner I bumped into Prudence who had apparated in front of me.
She raised her hand to slap me but O caught it mid air, punching her in the face with a fistful of nen, full force, sending her flying through a wall.
Man, this nen stuff is useful!
I don't even need to be afraid of ghost anymore.
I chased after Prudence through the door and caught her before she cpuld do anything else, grabbing her by the throat.
I smiled evilly at the ghost and saw the fear flicker in her eyes.
Hehehehehehe. Now that's what I like to see.
Now that I was on the other end of the house, I had no need to hide behind acting and lies.
Now I could lay down the law.
And I don't take shit from anyone. Not even ghosts.
"Let's go make a deposit in the quiet room, shall we, Prudence?"
I dragged her out of the house and into the storm cellar, holding her with one hand while I shuffled through my UNO deck, pulling out a skip card after 5 tries.
"Finally. There we go." I raised the skip card to her face and stuffed it up her ghostly hole, freezing her in place as my nen ability activated, leaving her suspended mid air.
"Sorry I had to go in dry bit you're not my type." I said, patting her cheeks as she followed me with her eyes, terrified.
"Now then." I pucked up a shovel, and walked over to a dirt filled trough at the end of the cellar, "Let's dig out your victims and see what goodies they have in their pockets eh?"
I gently shoveled off the dirt in the trough, packed and solidified over the decades and heaved aside the cakes of mud, revealing the skeletons of a little boy and his sister.
Two orphans of the World War that Plover had taken in alongside the Chatwins.
See, when Ember and Umber banished  Martin from Fillory, he denied Martin his only salvation from the pedophile that abused him. And so in an attempt to help her brother out, Jane promised to find him a way back into Fillory.
For that she hunted down one of the seven Questing creatures of Fillory.
The questing creatures were these magical, immortal, wishing granting creatures created by Ember and Umber to make the world more entertaining for themselves, to add the spice of a plot twist or a dues ex machina.
A person could hunt them down and catch them to get a gift of a wish.
Of course, they could only grant wishes that were within reasonable bounds. Genie rules applied.
No wishing for more wishes.
No bring back dead people.
No falling in love or creating new life.
That sort of a thing.
And like genies, they slightly twisted the wishes of the people if they worded them lousy.
In the show, when Penny asked for his hands back, the questing creature, a deer-han hybrid called The White Lady, gave him his hands back but without the ability to cast spells.
When Quentin asked to be sent back home, she sent him into the middle of a road in New York.
Basically, lazy wish granting.
So better be specific as fuck or you'll get a half assed result.
Jane Chatwin hunted down one of them. A pig called Sir Effingham.
And she asked him for one thing.
A way for Martin to come back to Fillory.
And the questing creature granted it to her in the form of a magical button. Anyone touching the button would to the Neitherlands, a realm between worlds that was littered with fountains, each leading to a new world. This would allow Martin to return to Fillory.
And return he did. To become the dreaded Beast.
Except for some reason, the button was here. On Earth.
Why?
Because Martin gave it to the orphan boy before me and told him to hide it to the best of his ability.
And hide he did. So well that it was still here, in his pocket after his death that same night.
There was still a mystery though.
How Martin got back to Fillory without the button.
Maybe there were two buttons? Who knows!
And honestly, who cares.
I get a world travelling backup to the portal gun, and one that I can use much more freely in this multiverse and that's all that matters.
Immediately, I pulled the button out and pressed on it, teleporting myself to the Neitherlands.
Hehehehehe!
Time to loot the endgame treasure chests before the protagonists get here.
