Limited edition kit prizes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OXsd6Gq5-I

As one of the things I'm sending out randomly to Patreon and PayPal supporters I've made a set of very limited edition kits.  I'll be contacting the winners (chosen at random) over the next few days to get the postal addresses.  I'll be contacting you via the email addresses provided by Patreon.

There are ten of these kits, all with the tricky bits pre-assembled and with some of the lead solder off the same reel I use in the videos.

Don't worry if you don't win this time round, I'm sending out random things at random times to random Patreon and PayPal channel supporters.  Your contributions to the channel make it more relaxed and perhaps a little bit naughtier too as I don't have to worry about upsetting the YouTube advertisers.

Note that you can also increase your chance of winning by entering the competition for the one kit mentioned in the video by leaving a comment on that video.

Just finished up building one of these. I am still waiting on the colour changing led's, I just ordered them. I have always been jealous of people who could create beautiful prototype boards. I had read about etching and most of it seemed daunting so after seeing the original video of this project I was amazed at the ease of the system you used. So I bought paper, copper clad boards, thinking I could have my wife print them at work with her laser printer... But I changed my mind and found a brother laser printer that is so old it has USB and LPT got it cheaper than the toner for it. Arrived poorly packaged and wire a bit dinged up but out was less than 30bux not including toner. But it worked and the day after it arrived I quickly printed transferred and drilled the board, then I realized I forgot to turn off the silk layer, so it came the dremel and I ground the copper to break the circuits apart where necessary then cleaned the rest of the toner off and built it. Can't post a picture here. At least from my phone but I used green and brown wires, stranded was all I had in those colours and I believe that it isn't as posable as it would be with solid core wire, but I like the colour of the trunk much better. Cheers, and thanks for the confidence boost, now my next project is designing a small board for your solar meteor light recharge/power circuit. I am going to try a surface mount version as well as a through hole version as my current versionlooks likea ball of junk accidentally soldered to a thorough hole proto board haha

Michael Wellman

Me too - I really enjoy yor videos and projects =)

The high power LEDs need good heatsinking. It may have been thermal inertia that made the LED appear to get warmer when the power had been turned off.

Big Clive

yes please <3

Did anyone notice the sad face on that blue pound land usb cable at the start of the video? Perhaps it knew it was going to have the cut done to it...

Hi Clive, in one of your recent videos you mentioned 'high cri' LEDs. (Can't seem to find which video it was) I have bought some from yujileds. I smashed my piggybank and bought some loose LEDs as well as 2 different kinds of lamps. Very satisfied with the light they produce! However the lamps get extremely hot. One of the types is related for 110-230V, so I ran 2 in series to make them run cooler. Weird thing is, they get less hot but after I switched them off, one of them got very very hot just after it was turned off. Do you have any idea what could cause that? I know yujileds have sponsored another Youtuber.. so maybe they will will send you some of their products too is you ask nicely ;). And then maybe you could crack open one of their expensive lamps to see if they are luxurious on the inside as well. (And then I don't have to destroy mine ;))

Hopefully I'm not too late, but either way, keep up the awesome work!

"I can totally hack those color-changing LED candles to use less power." - Me, to my wife, after _way_ too many BigClive videos. (continual inspiration, information, and enjoyment. Please keep it up!)

Matt Hessinger

No. I'm still picking winners and shipping them out. I also added a couple more with the double sided boards.

Big Clive

Am i too late for this?

Nice :)

I've been thinking about building something like this and placing it inside a colored mason jar.

Nice Job Clive!

Thanks Clive, great video. One can never have enough LED ornaments!

Gary Bleads

pretty tree

Trees are so pretty...

Did you get laser removal for the tattoo on your left hand that you gave yourself?

That does look just bonsi!

Ave has an "empire of dirt", thanks to you, I now have "an accumulation of clutter". Keep up the good work.

Nice project, would look great with my LED flowers!

Great idea for an Patreon reward, keep up the good work!

Nice kits. ;)

Peter Eduard

Nice kit! Might be a good project for kids.

I'd like consideration for a kit. Either way, thanks for the frequent entertainment!

Jonathan Overholt

Keep up the good work Clive!

Any plans to release the gerbers for this project on your website?

Jeff LeBell

Pink!

Witold Witkowski

I would love to buy one of these kits too!

My Soldering Station NEEEEEEDS a BigClive Kit :D

ENIG is electroless nickel, immersion gold - the most commonly used type of gold plating for PCBs

they're fantastic kits! I would buy one.. if I don't win one that is lol

Richard Boyce

It was almost as if you meant the kit to be good...

I would like to win a kit. Keep up the good work.

Old fan; new patreon.Love one. Love you.

Great idea! If I win one I would build it with my son. Also a question rating the current rating of the tracks. How come you need a larger wire diameter for higher currents yet the tracks are so thin, even the higher rated ones?

I had a bash at a project spurred on by your videos clive. I built a led light rig for my marine aquarium, and it worked!!!!!! 48 3 watt chips split into 4 independent channels all governed by an arduino controller

I less-than-three BigClive's videos! Give Ralphie the one in this video.

Andrew Sloniger

Hope im not to late!

Cisco Frost

Neat!

Nils Normann

Try to get your solder from a prominent electronics supplier like Mouser or Digikey. They should still sell the 60/40 tin/lead based electronics solder with flux core.

Big Clive

I've already uploaded the PCB file to my website. <a href="http://www.bigclive.com/freebies.htm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.bigclive.com/freebies.htm</a>

Big Clive

Always enjoy your vids!

I've already commented on youtube, but we will see.If not,I will have a go at the flicker led lightbulb.

Thanks clive!

Excellent introduction into pcb prototyping companies, should I get adventurous enough to attempt this or have a need to do so. As always I enjoy your work and your projects. You have pushed/ encouraged me into getting into electronic building once again, and I now have a few project in the works, some of which you have shown or made and other involving the many nifty modules available nowadays on eBay, that you can really go to town on. Thank you again for sharing your love of electronics and making it interesting, fun and not stuffy. 😺 say hi to the Kitties for us.

Vaughn B.

Always love the vids, Clive. Thanks for the hard work.

Looks like a fun kit, hope I get one.

Adam K. Foote

Will you be uploading the PCB files so we can purchase components and order/create these ourselves? This is one of my favorite of your projects!!!

I would love to get a kit if you randomly pick me, and want to ship all the way to the US. :) On a side note... My wonderful Radio Shack leaded solder roll is almost gone, and I bought some Chinese solder that turned out to be garbage, what would you guys recommend exactly for me to get? Anyway, love all of your videos!

Mike Mason

Really enjoy your videos, Clive~ Absolutely brilliant watching you work!

Thank you, Your videos have taught me enough to get me into hobby electronics.

Drachnien

Love ya work mate. Any chance of a roll of Parma Violets in the box??

It would be fun to make one alongside you. Likely you have much more exciting projects for the channels on your mind. Have you ever considered making a trip across the pond to see what George lll gave away?? If you plan to be in silicon valley, we have a nnice guest room

Phil Kipnis AKA pkipnis

Struth, would like one alot :)

L. Brait

Wonderful kits BC, would love to win one but more than happy to buy them for soldering practice for my kids, in any case thanks for your wonderfully entertaining and informative videos.

Big Clive sure makes the world seem small on YouTube. It's surprising how many times I've watched videos on various other YouTube channels (some for the first time), had a peep at the comments and there's a comment from Big Clive! I think the first Big Clive video I watched was a tear-down of a desiccant dehumidifier as I was curious how they work.

Seán Byrne

Great kit! Hope you will put some of for sale. I would definitively buy a kit or two from you if you put them up for sale.

&lt;fingers crossed&gt; ;)

Always love your videos, Clive. I'm no stranger to soldering - been burning my fingers for over 40 years - but I still learn a lot from you! (And I still use lead solder - still using the same massive roll I got from Ferranti over 30 years ago...)

Rob O'Donnell

Thanks for the review of the different companies... Not sure I'm up to etching and drilling myself yet...

realy cool of you!

A Scotsman on the isle of man (manx) a nice combination been watching you for a couple of months and enjoying your vids

Amazing!

Itai Liba

Looks like a great kit!

i've been trying to find a good site to make a small batch of PCB's and couldnt find the right one i'd liked.. But thanks to you, SEEEDS seems to be the best that im looking for!

A kit with the Big Clive logo on it. Definitely pride of place on the mantle. Great video as always.

I always enjoy your videos. You have taught me a lgreat dealt that i didnt know or remember Thanks very much

Phil Kipnis AKA pkipnis

Great idea =) I'll place me titfer in the ring, ta muchly,

Nice video Clive. Would be interesting to see if the winners could come up with alternative designs and post their results.

You put in a lot of work for these givaways. Very nice!

Awesome!!! I would be honored to receive an electronics kit from BigClive!!! I have learned a lot from watching your videos and I have even started ordering random kits off eBay/AliExpress/Wish.com/Etc… but to have a kit that was partially built by you and then finished by me would be amazing!!! No matter how silly or useless the kit might be I will hang it up on my wall with pride as something my "Mentor/Teacher" gave me!!! ;)

Zane Revai

How about testing some more pcb manufacturers reviving cyberpussy and absolution button kits? They might come in handy for a friends birthday or so...

Not actually being inserted. Someone at YouTube would definitely click the button on that video.

Big Clive

must get as asshat to go with my willy warmer

Erik G

Super super super!

Adam Pepper

Lovely project!

We appreciate that you do the videos for us Clive. That's why we support you, Thank you for the time and effort you put into this.

Appreciate the krimpathon!! (i'll have on plz)

I have an ebay watch list with all the bits to make one of my own after watching the first video, as yet unordered. Too much broken house to fix first :(

At work we've just put an order in using the Seeed OPL assembly service. They have over 600 parts in their library and will pick and place them for you, without massive setup costs, or needing to provide your own reels.

My recently revived interest in electronics after many years in I.T. Is all down to one of your videos I found when searching for something else (and it wasn't Fanny Flambeau!) My postman thinks I'm starting a new takeaway, the number of Jiffy bags I get from China. And it's all your fault.

Phil Collins

I'm glad to be a supporter and who could resist a kit from Big Clive himself

Nice!!!

Say No to asshats!!

8 out of 10 cats prefer lead based solder apparently

"Lead-based solder for the maximum soldering pleasure" :-)

My 12 year old daughter came home from school today and asked me to teach her to solder as her teacher had made a balls of it, perfect project😁

Rich Nixon

I wasn't going to bother but then I saw the pink cable ties and thought, must have :)

This is more exiting than the super mega jackpot lottery!

Does more naughty mean we might see more uh ... let's just say insertables?

Another great video! Thanks Clive

That sounds fantastic!

I like to support patreons like you when I see that the money is well spend to support your videos.

Cool, got my fingers crossed! Thanks for all the hard work you put into your channel 😊

Thanks for the offer, but do not send anything to Vietnam,

Sweet!

Fantastic Clive, I'd love one of those kits. Thanks for testing these pcb services!

The gentle giant just keeps giving.

Demolished Man

Happy Brexit 1776! Oh dear; I think I may be an asshat now.

Always look forwards to your videos, Thanks a million. K

"Any comment whatsoever"

We love you yoo, big guy :)
