My dashcam started behaving erratically, so suspecting the lithium cell I decided to pop it open to see if it could be changed.

I love it when its possible to put in a bigger battery or modify something in the course of a repair like this.

2017-09-14 11:08:01 +0000 UTCThe rest of the components are subjected to much higher heat during the assembly process, but I imagine that prolonged heat exposure might pressurize and shorten the life of some electrolytic capacitors.

2017-09-12 11:17:42 +0000 UTCI recommend placing a bit of aluminum foil on the front of the camera to shield it from the incoming rays. Curious that the battery is affected by the heat but the rest of the components are not?

2017-09-11 11:14:20 +0000 UTCLooks like the original cell failed in a "controlled" way when it puffed up - perhaps by design (doubt it though). What if your new cell can't handle the temperature, explodes, then sets fire to your car?! How you gonna get to Poundland then Clive?!!!
