New washing machine. (I opened it)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUHuFeFfCdA

As usual when I get a new toy I tend to open it, and this also applies to large appliances like washing machines.  This one is the most minimalist I've ever seen, with a tiny wiring loom connecting all the modular components.  This machine is almost silent in use.  All you hear is the clothing sploshing gently inside.

The front loader I pulled apart had concrete poured into plastic formers as the weights. It was quite dense, so I'm not sure what composition it was. The motor in mine had 1mm copper wire in it's windings. My partner at the time made chainmaille jewelry so I scavenged the wire for her to make stuff out of. I think I sold the control panel and the drum was reused for a chilli plant to grow out of,

All you need is a cheap basic machine that can wash or dry clothes. The higher profile machines seem to have more problems. The cheaper, more popular machines have more spares available.

The old machine is outside and may well be ripped apart for fun.

Big Clive

The weights are indeed concrete.

So I'm intrigued what happened to the old machine, and why that isn't being pulled apart?

Congrats on the new washer! The wife and I have reached that point where we just replaced our washer and dryer for the 3rd or 4th time over time over the 27 or so years we've shared a roof. A couple of those were fixer-uppers from family and friends, but we've been through the "golly looitthat" stage and just get a set of base models. They end up working great over time

was always told you don't use softener if you're going to be tumble drying I know you're not supposed to put softener in with anything denim, or cotton towels as the waxy element can ruin them

When I started using fabric conditioner the condenser plates in my dryer ended up covered in a thick sticky grease. I think fabric conditioner is basically an emulsion of oil to give the clothes a softer and smoother feel. In the same way that a pair of overalls that have been used in an engineering industry end up feeling very soft because they are infused with oils.

Big Clive

Conditioner makes things greasy? Are you sure you're not putting hair conditioner in there?

Do you want your washing machine to be taken a part by Clive? ;) Shipping to the Isle of Man is quite costly even for small postage packages. You can try asking kindly by e-mailing to bigclive1 AT gmail DOT com

Anyone know where to send, or get the info to send an item? Thanks!
