Inside Poundland's Halloween 2017 stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXfE585CjoI

Halloween is approaching and Poundland has their stock in. They've also got some of their Xmas stock in, but that's for later.

I took a couple of their items to bits, a battery operated LED projector with rotating gobos (actually cost £5) and a £2 battery powered stroboscope.

One is good and the other is a bit crap.

You can improvise a haze fluid for them by just adding a small quantity of glycerin to the water. It produces a very long lasting haze, but you have to make sure you clean the units regularly.

What's interesting about those is that if you put hazer fluid (watered down smoke machine fluid) in it, it'll atomize it without the heat and noise of hazer. It produces a light but even haze that's ideal for disco lights at a home event.

Zero ohm SMT resistor is quite common, used instead of a jumper, for example. It is cheaper than a jumper and can be placed by pick&place automation. You can easily rework to a different value or simply break it i

Not as exciting as you might think. It's just a small piezo electric disk that vibrates at an incredibly high speed. Water sits on top of the disk and the vibrations cause microscopic droplets to be pushed from the surface of the water.

That might be a bit too creepy even for Halloween.

A profanity-projector. I'm not sure that would go down too well with the neighbours. Particularly if you pointed it at their house.

You know...with an inkjet printer and some transparency film you could make your own projections. Imagine 4 floating heads of Clive!

I would love it if you could disassemble an Ultrasonic Humidifier as I am really interested in how they work. Something like this one at £17 although there are cheaper units available for around £10: Bodi-Tek All Night Aroma Diffuser/Humidifier and Night-Light https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01NAJ28EP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xYD6zbYKY3PY6

You could change the resistors (just solder on some ordinary ones) and print out your own sheet of dubious symbols or words. Just point it at the ceiling or take out the motor and you got yourself a not-completely-shitty little scandalous projector :) (I like the lenses) I now imagine you having 4 colourful penises chasing each other on the ceiling haha

You could use the circuit to drive a mosfet and then make it into a lithium-battery high-power UV strobe light!

"I don't like this much, it's shit". Tell it like it is, Clive!

Often used as a machine placeable link.

Agree on the strobe light, very nice indeed.

I was winding a inductor on a ferrite ring and I saw this video pop up and i though it was perfect timing.
