Pound land rook/crow circuitry.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBOnVEsLKHY

I'm not sure what sort of bird this is supposed to be.  A black spooky one that makes crowing noises when it detects light disturbance caused by moving people.  This is a full analysis of hat circuitry and then a very low tech mod with LEDs.

This video is also a test using a different audio setup that may remove a bit of the boom from my bassy voice at a level high enough to avoid needing to boost the level afterwards.

I will partially agree with "Unknown bird", I think the intention was Raven, the sound is arguably Raven which is an important identifier from crow/rook but the beak is very crow due to the curvature. if it helps at all I have been filming ravens over the last 12 months and there are 100 short raven videos on my youtube account for reference. #gameofravens great teardown/reverse engineering as always.

On a Lenovo PC with a good sound card and some fantastic IEMs this is a bit thinner but oddly bassier. To my ear (ruined by years of loud music) the previous mic setup was better. And for the record, I'm voting crow. Ravens are built differently. But, ultimately, it's intended to be "Scary Black Bird For Halloween", a species unto itself.

Why try to get rid of it? It's one of the things we like about you... Can't imagine "BIG" Clive without a BIG voice...

On a 15" MacBook pro, I prefer your previous sound setup. This video sounds thin and slightly sibilant.

I can't get rid of my boom, it's built into my voice. Interesting that some people are saying it's too trebley and some too bassy. I guess it depends on the playback device.

Boomier than ever!

As far as audio quality...it sounded really good! (the video, that is)

Lovely!

you could put the noise circuit back & hack the LEDs in so that the eyes blink when it detects movement...

Scott Miller

Haha, those LEDS make it look like it has mixamatosis. How about making an irritating device that only makes a noise every so often when the room is dark? Imagine the annoyance of a grass hopper noise that stops when you turn the light on to look for it!

Dollar Tree is the U.S. is selling a similar toy (cackling witch or moaning ghost) with SF 600130 silk-screened on the circuit board. The board is about the same size and general arrangement as yours. It also has the LDR in a tunnel. The principal difference is that a fast-changing RGB LED blinks in the body of the plastic figure in sync with the sound. It has an on-off switch and a small trumpet horn speaker. For power it has one (1) L1154 and two (2) L1131 "0% Hg,Pb" cells. Not bad for a buck!
