Inside an unusual LED floodlight.

This is a weird one.  Pretty much just a pressed heatsink with a COB LED and lens on it.

Recent tip I picked up for my videos. Try setting the shutter speed to 1/30 if you can. It will reduce flickering.

I really like the simplicity and that must mean lower costs, but the power connection... Ummmm. All these lights frustrate with thier tiny rat tail of cable. In this case why not just bring the connection out to a small block on the back you can joint a decent length of cable in and goop/pot. Three short lengths of the silicone sheathed cable and a block you could use on all the designs for economy of scale can't change the cost that much but would make many of the units usable rather than landfill. Just frustrated the engineering bit of my brain that so often there is 90% really neat cost and design optimisation crippled by 10% cost only. Gahhh, sorry for the rant, thanks for the video!

Hmm...yes it seems like a couple of opportunities wasted. Bummer, but indeed quite interesting.

The fan cooled heatsink will be helping with lifespan greatly.

Because of your liking of the driveless LED's I built my wife a indoor greenhouse with a 50w one and it has about 500 hrs on it so far and no problems. You can see the hack build on sortofsmarter on YouTube if you would like.

All you'd see is a slightly squared current waveform. It's like having a resistor in series with the LEDs.

Interesting, but a bit unsatisfying. Couldn't you whip out an oscilloscope and watch the chip in action that way?
