Another cloned Hakko tip temperature tester.

Hmm, this one goes a bit further with fake features to "fill the button positions" of the unit it's based on.

I wonder if the third prong isn't just for mechanical reasons but is some kind of guard electrode to avoid interference from the soldering iron. (Edit: oh, I see, it's not connected. Hmm.)

The mechanical connection looks the same, and as long as they're using the same pair of materials, it would be.

Hm, I wonder if the thermocouples between all the knock-offs (and the original) are totally cross-compatible.

Got one of these some time ago to recalibrate my Hakko 888, that I accidentally buggered by entering in desired set temperature into the calibration menu. The tip of the iron got a little hot and discoloured before getting to the switch. Though this is a little cheap, it did help to bring the iron back to its normal operating spec for my needs as a hobbyist. These tend to be a little pricey other wise. Nice to get a little back ground on it operation however, and I will bee careful not to leave my on. Once again thank you for all the fantastic vIdeos. I like your sense of humour and how you present your topic of the day. Always a treat 😺

A thermocouple? - Looks more like a flux capacitor to me.....
