Common issue with motorcycles are sealed "non serviceable" parts. For instance the 80's Sabre/Magna had a "spark box" that was prone to failure after 20 years and were very hard (and expensive) to replace.

You know this reminds me of when I worked at the golf course with my grandfather. He worked as a golf cart tech. Taught me a lot of diagnosis and testing things. Knowledge I still use till this day.

I was hoping this video was going to be about repairing the unit, but it at least shows that it probably is a better option to just Dremel in or patch a relay onto the pads if the original one has not welded shut.

given that often when a relay fails the contacts weld or burn out, i think the (careful)use of a dremel to open the other side to physically remove the bad relay would be warranted. Added to which that desoldering looked like a nightmare. Of course this is a 20/20 hind sight opinion having seen your excellent video

Reminds me of some of the older eberspacher control relays. Multiple relays encased in aluminium box. Suppose once the faulty relay had been identified it would be possible to add an external relay and diodes conected to appropriate wires in loom so no need to open the module itself maybe a standard 12v "auto" relay and socket could be used?
