Magnetic fuel saver.

Another juicy bit of quackery that is rife on eBay.

Magnetic fuel saver.

How can you tell they are killing the algae? I thought magnetic fields are harmless to life. The monster magnetic fields in medical scanners do no harm to people or gut fauna.

Hot air soldering station!

besides all your fuel injected cars have wet fuel pumps where the fuel passes through the inside of the pump and there are pretty powerful permanent magnets inside them already...

I've been a auto tech for 25 years. i have seen these over the years. my best suggestion to a customer that had one of these quack pot devices on there car was to leave it on and don't mess with it. Its because it will attract slight metal shavings that are almost microscopic to the side of the pipe where the magnet is. when you suddenly remove it after it has been on for a spell all of those shavings are free and instantly plug your injectors or cause the seats to stick open.... had to do many repairs as results of customer removal of old ones...lol

Atleast it'll get all the metal crud

I used to have something similar to that on the big truck... We have ones we get here called an algae-x, which is a rare earth magnet, used to kill algae (in diesel fuel)... they work fairly well, but some people try marketing them as a fuel saver as well. They are fairly common on boats around here due to algae concerns.

Quack stuff is always appealing because of the exaggerated claims made about it and the completely fake circuitry found in some items.

That's the only possible "real world" reason for these I can think of. Magnets are often (always?) found in oil pans and transmissions for just that reason.

Even if all the molecules got "aligned" by the magnets, they'd get all knocked out of whack again either by the carburetor venturi or the injectors atomizing the fuel. And if not there, it would surely get all crazy inside the combustion chamber as the piston rises on the compression stroke. Even if the theory that aligned fuel molecules burned more efficiently than chaotic ones were true, there's no good way to keep them aligned enough up to the point of combustion to reap any benefit from it. Also: Given how strict fuel efficiency rules and regulations are, and how vociferously car manufacturers lobby government against them and complain that they're impractical, if anything like this device were ever shown to be worthy, they'd all come as standard on cars. My car has very expensive systems that do things like heat the catalytic converter as quickly as possible to save fuel, and always try to overdrive the transmission to keep the revs low to save fuel. So if a magnet could do anything for effectively free, I'm sure there'd be one on there already.

These would probably work when using 'snake oil' as fuel. :)

Liquid helium isn't the easiest thing to come by or handle.

I think you would need a much bigger magnet to be sure. NMR aligns hydrogen spin with 5000+ Gauss (0.5T) magnets, so you should start there.

Aa always, excellent video 😀 I would guess that the fuel line magnets in warplanes were to stop metal particles from getting into and blocking up the carburettor jets.

Wow I'd never heard of these. And ah it makes me happy to see anyone bust out an iSesmo. I repair phones in my free time and that thing is a lifesaver.

OH boy down the rabit hole big clive goes
