There's nothing quite like the cosmetics industry to dream up new ways to hurt yourself. This appears to be one of them.
I've just finished checking the capacity of the 18650 cell and it clocks in at 2,200mAh.
You mean a home LASIK kit? Because what an idea! $5 home LASIK kit! (I'm joking btw)

Before Clive put the instructions down, I happened to catch the warning: "Don't scratch the itching scab, the skin is tender".
What a fun little device.
We should probably be thankful that despite the listing title, there is actually no laser of any kind in this product. If there were, the consequences would be a good deal worse than they already are... "For just under 6 pounds, you too can experience permanent total blindness!". The idea of people trying to use a "Laser Home Blemish Removal Kit" anywhere near their faces is concerning. I'm pretty sure it would take a moderately powerful laser to actually be effective in any way, "moderately powerful" in this case being taken to read as: partial or total blindness if you happen to flash your cornea with it for just a split second. I'm sure there would have to be some kind of protective goggles included in the kit for liability reasons alone, along with strong instructions/warnings about always using them, but y'know... people.

So is it just a matter of connecting an antenna and modulating? QRP

There is some use of RF burning in surgery as I understand it, this seems like the cheap nasty version!

Do you think it's RF pickup that's crashing the unit? I wonder if you could somehow screen the SoC to avoid it picking up radiation - maybe wrap it in grounded, insulated copper foil

Those look like acupuncture needles, useful in their place but not when heated !

I had quite a few moles removed from my chest and stomach (joys of being a pasty white Irish person!) and am glad they didn't use that thing. I had them prop me up so I could watch what they were doing. Watching them cut them out was fine but getting the smell of burning flesh would have turned me even whiter lol.

It almost seems like they were looking to extend the market for usb soldering irons by seeing what else could be treated with a point of heat.

What, no fleabay link so I could feel the burn myself? Actually I was interested in cannibalizing it for parts. Excellent post by the way

The difference between this and the violet wand is that the wand will give jabs and tingles, while this device really is designed to burn and will leave a mark. I did cover the new violet wand (called darsonval on eBay.) The circuitry was using a simple dimmer style trigger circuit to dump a capacitor across the coil. Interesting circuitry but definitely NOT suitable for the metal rod electrode.

That last part sounds like a euphemism. ;-) ...sorry, couldnβt resist. My mind is truly awful.

I can think of many people over at FetLife.com who would jump at the chance to buy one of these things. It reminds me a little of the old violet wands of days gone by. In fact, speaking of which, I would love to see you do a video on an old antique violet wand vs a new plastic cheapo violet wand. http://www.nickandmorphia.com/VioletWands.asp Vs https://www.amazon.co.uk/Signstek-Portable-Frequency-Tightening-Wrinkles/dp/B00EYYTNRE/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1523485378&sr=8-1&keywords=violet+wand&dpID=51k98eeFriL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch for example

Listening to Clive shriek in terror as he reads the instructions was the best part... XD And I concur about being creeped-out by sharp needles attached to heavy objects. I used to routinely manage to stab myself with the tip of my logic probe... :/

Handy for removing those little red dots in your skin I guess. I've seen people taking a lighter to the back of a pin on those. π¬
