Initially I thought this might just have been a COB style LED array with no current limiting, but it's actually really clever inside.  And fan cooled too, which still didn't save the LEDs.

I don't think cars have been positive ground in a long while. At least here in the USA anyway

I guess the lamp needs to be insensitive to polarity because there are cars around with with negative ground and ones with positive. (I understand positive ground is more common these days for corrosion protection). And since an incandescant lamp doesn't care about polarity, I wouldn't be surprised if the polarity on the lamp connector isn't standardized at all.

I wonder how good the beam pattern is, many of these LED car lamps seem to throw light all over the place
