Back to basics with a super simple night light that can be tweaked if desired.

Thanks for sharing, funny things you find :-)

Makes sense to me. If a resistor "resists" then a rectifier should "wreck"...

Those color changing LEDs need a fairly clean 3 volts or so DC, so a build-up mod or outright replacement of the existing circuitry would be required, but also entirely possible. When Clive modded the cloud lights a while back I bought a few of them as well as the clover shaped ones and modified them all with slow color changing 5mm LEDs. They are all still in service either with me or with family. Great fun and a great effect, and one that would lend itself well to ol' Baymax there for certain!

Make that doughboy green.

Since these are probably for small kids, why not add a couple of red LEDs for eyes and REALLY scare the little buggers

Clive, I think you're right about the original intention being for 2 series resistors - the line input pads are round while the resistor pads are square. Seems like a futile saving, but I suppose when your profit is measures in pennies, one less resistor could make a difference. `I wonder what effect the number of omitted components has on the likelihood of spontaneous combustion..

Color changing mod would be delightful!

That's pretty cool. I was hoping for a classic color changing LED mod, but this is just fine!
