Upload issues.
Added 2018-05-02 02:58:44 +0000 UTCThere was supposed to be a video going up tonight, but I'm having ongoing upload issues with a 4G broadband account that seems to have settings issues that the telecoms company can't quite suss out. Hopefully the fourth attempt will get a result.

kreosan just did a video for DIY 3g and 4g antennas. Seems to have worked well for him.
2018-05-11 15:27:09 +0000 UTCIt's something I've considered, but the modem does show a signal strength of 75% to 100%.

2018-05-07 05:06:51 +0000 UTCLooking at what's available; there are various packages available with different data allowances, but many have unmetered usage at night. Also, I notice that while the setup costs are somewhat steep, if your ADSL is particularly bad, you can qualify for a government subsidy to cover the cost of equipment and setting-up...

2018-05-06 21:53:09 +0000 UTCgenerally very heavily capped over here, and once you hit the cap the speeds plummet to ISDN type speeds :o(

2018-05-06 21:31:50 +0000 UTCdo you have an external antenna on the 4G rig?

2018-05-06 21:30:52 +0000 UTC@clive, you get that on mainland UK too - Virgin Media isn't fibre from their cabs to the home, and not many homes get direct fibre. Had a client where he was so far from the cab his normal adsl was faster than the FTTC :)

2018-05-06 21:29:25 +0000 UTCClive, I've a friend over here (in Northern Ireland) lives on a farm and gets abysmal ADSL coverage (<1Mbps). He used 4G for a while but changed when one of the satellite companies were offering deals for people in out-of-the-way places. Apparently it's not *too* expensive, there's a bit of latency but upload/download speeds are very good. Might be worth checking out..

2018-05-03 20:28:03 +0000 UTCThe system regularly drops back from 4G to H itself. That really makes things drag.

2018-05-03 12:30:10 +0000 UTCSounds exactly like Australia!
2018-05-03 04:54:28 +0000 UTCNo, or I would have suggested a 56k dialup modem. 4G is sporadic, so often have to fall back to 3G. It probably isnβt any slower than 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi. For the record I have dual band Wi-Fi, fibre broadband, and 4G, Anyway, my comment was for Clive, not you, so please butt out!

2018-05-02 18:53:57 +0000 UTC3G! Are you some kind of internet throughput masochist...

2018-05-02 18:22:31 +0000 UTCHave you tried switching to 3G as a temporary measure?
Gadgetman
2018-05-02 12:16:57 +0000 UTCThat might be an option in that I could take my phone to a pub with good internet and upload there.

2018-05-02 12:08:17 +0000 UTCYes, but using broadband will take up to 10 hours for one video at times. It's very slow and starts and stops.
Big Clive
2018-05-02 12:07:12 +0000 UTCWe have a choice of wired broadband with upload speeds measured in kbits or a 4G connection. And the 4G option for home broadband only became available recently.

2018-05-02 12:06:24 +0000 UTCI wish. It's an island with a telecoms monopoly, so they only put fibre so far before it's wire the rest of the way.
Big Clive
2018-05-02 12:04:56 +0000 UTCI understand that there are pills to help with that
2018-05-02 11:49:04 +0000 UTCCan you upload on Wi-Fi?

2018-05-02 11:07:39 +0000 UTCWe'll be here no worries

2018-05-02 10:41:50 +0000 UTCIf everything else fails you should use sneakernet.

2018-05-02 10:41:31 +0000 UTCgood things come to those who wait!

2018-05-02 10:22:50 +0000 UTC4th or 5th? Is the Isle of Man still relying on cellular for internet
2018-05-02 08:16:34 +0000 UTCNo worries, always worth the wait.
2018-05-02 04:23:19 +0000 UTCYou need an extra portion of healthy fiber π
2018-05-02 03:47:33 +0000 UTCindeed.
Michael Gilchrest
2018-05-02 03:42:49 +0000 UTCUpload video as 144p lol.... PS: please don't hehe

2018-05-02 03:35:07 +0000 UTCGood luck!! Upload issues can be a pain.
2018-05-02 03:30:44 +0000 UTCKeep trying! Weβre depending on you!! We need our Big Clive fix.
