Neat waterproof housing hack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5yv1ymYYKk

This is a clever repurposing of an existing product to make a waterproof cell holder for the common copper wire LED strings. I completely forgot to mention that I drilled a hole in the end of the LED dome on the battery pack for the wires to go in.

Neat waterproof housing hack.

I prefer the longer ones, because you often start talking about personal things. It’s like having a chat with you. That’s very nice :-)

+1 for having a mix of lengths. Depends what I’m in the mood for.

Really depends on the project...why not keep doing what you do best...which is your best.

Clive, I honestly like having both long and short videos. The longer ones give me more information and sometimes entertaining rambles. The shorter ones give me good options when I'm short of time or about to fall asleep. (I watch these mostly at bedtime.) Thanks for all that you do!

Hi Clive! I just love your longer videos. 20-30 mins. is no problem at all! ...As long as you stick to being you, and keep filling my brain with knowledge, you just go ahead! Thanks for keeping me interrested in electronics, and bad quality chineesium! :)

What Dustin said.

I'm all for the length of the video being appropriate to the subject matter. If it needs a deep dive, then dive in. If it's a quickie "here's a nifty thing I found" that's fine too. Got a long rambly Q&A session while building a kit? Warm up the kettle and I'll be there. :)

Dustin

I don't mind the long format videos. The personal stories are great and it feels like I'm learning from a friend instead of some online class. By all means, if it's a short and quick topic to cover, no need to drag it out. However, if you have a lot to say about the subject matter, or some related items you want to talk about as well, I'm all ears. Some content creators take the 2-channel approach (not saying you should) and they post their short format videos on the main channel and the longer explanations and bonus content on a secondary channel. Not sure if that's beneficial or not, but could be an idea. idk. We will be here for you regardless! /drunken rant

I like the longer videos as well; however, if a short video is all that's called for that's fine too!

I like a good mix of longer and shorter videos. You go into some great technical detail in your longer videos and it has helped me with some of my hobby projects. The more often short videos are nice as a quick review of some piece of junk I might want to repurpose from e-bay.

Yes, the anecdotes are great.

Clive, potential neat teardown for you if you can get one there on the island: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRbnK4cDXPY

Agree with all of the above - long or short as befits the subject. Good to get both as available time can be variable. Chat, banter and anecdotal musings an important part of every video you produce and much appreciated

Re video length, I prefer a mix of long and short depending on the content. Some items need more time whereas others don't.

I like the longer more technical videos. I always like when you use schematics and ohms law. I also like the oscilloscope and FLIR camera pictures. I've got a scope, but I don't have a FLIR. I do have that little laser aiming thermometer, and they're one of the most useful tools for circuit debugging.

I’ll watch any length vijeo. I’m that vers, as the kids say theses days. Now did the housing already have a hole to run the wires or did I miss that part of the build? Figure if was watertight, it didn’t.

Im happy with the videos you publish ..long or short ,,,l dont think l have come across any of your vids that l havent watched ... however l understand that some people like to receive technical info in short bursts , particularly if they are building up their knowledge slowly......l am like that when l am reading technical books ...l dip in , absorb the info , test my own knowledge , then apply the knowledge gained ,

Longer is always better, well that what my girlfriend tells me :)

longer videos!

Michael Gilchrest

I prefer longer videos for right before bed

I like the longer videos. That was a fun project.

Make videos as long as fits the topic. Agree with Kane. You always pause for boring or awkward stuff and never pad out. Both shorter and longer topics are good.

Should we be posting in here or on YT? I prefer the longer videos. Some tubers edit out so much or try and cram too much into a short video that they make them unwatchable. In some of your longer videos you have told wee stories that are relevant to the project - that makes it feel a bit more personal, like you're chatting to someone in the pub. Also, you are conscious of the length yourself, you regularly jump cut if you have to use unreasonable force or reverse engineer something.

John Carr

Sometimes it's the simple things...

If I had to choose one, I'd also be in favor of longer videos, but I'd say just give the video the legth required to adress the topic properly.

I agree with you Kane, I enjoy both formats but if its a little long I might skip some parts of the explanation.

Jamie Cruickshank

Most of the time I like the longer videos because they allow for a more complicated topic.

Jorg Jorgensen

Make the video as long as it needs to be. You aren't known for nonsense filler. The longer videos usually go into explaining how the circuit works so people can skip that part if they wanted to rush through it.

evilution

longer videos for sure.
