Inside a large ozone generator.

This is a new version of the very short video I made about this unit a long time ago.   This one has a better filming location,m more information and much better audio.

Inside a large ozone generator.

I wonder if it's pure ceramic. Then again ozone and the corona itself is quite destructive.

Hello Clive I actually work at hotel and recently serviced one of our ozone units. I had to replaced the ceramic plate and sand down the oxidation built up on the stainless steel plates. I'm not entirely sure what causes the ceramic plate to degrade though 🤔

Good stuff! Yes the camera picked it up quite well.

Sometimes I'm happy to fall behind in watching videos because that evening comes when I can enjoy a shot and a beer and SEVERAL videos from brother Clive! :D

The airflow will carry most of the ozone out of the front of the unit. The plain grill would most likely become powdery and brittle if the unit was used a lot.

Big Clive

If the ozone would damage the fan if sucked out past the fan would it not damage the grille and maybe the timer unit too which must be washed over by the ozone on its way out? I presume some plastics and/or paints are not affected. Thoughts?

Ignore the ratings. They're just nonsensical. To get an idea of output try one.

Clive (or anyone) Do you have any experience with the budget items from China, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282841184092 (10g version) for example? Ignoring the lower output of course!

Mark Arnold

This is a relatively old unit. The new ones with ceramic plates probably put out more ozone. It might actually be viable to fit some of those plates in this existing unit. The battery ones are very low output.

Big Clive

If the secondary of the transformer is isolated from the primary then it should be safe. The base of the unit is plastic and is separated from the metalwork.

Big Clive

I see that you can buy similar units, as well as their internal components, on eBay. There are also compact battery operated units.

This is definitely much better than the original; well worth revisiting indeed. I was also thinking about that live metalwork connected to the HV transformer: Would it actually be dangerous to touch and what is the normal operating voltage and current of the discharge 'grid'?
