USB heated gloves.

These things do seem to have an effect.  But they're also a very good source of components.

The 3V would probably result in a significantly lower output and the 12V would potentially be close to 12W and risk being too hot.

There's something to be said for the heat encouraging blood flow in your hand to keep the fingers from getting "strangled" in the first place. I have some Alpaca gloves, and despite being finger-less they help tremendously. The downside is the palm material is so thick it makes using a mouse shy of impossible.

Here's the thing - when my hands are cold it's the tips of my fingers which get coldest - those are, therefore, not really very useful... By the time my palms are cold, my fingers will be gangrenous ;0

The offer actually sounds better as "cool cable assembly with free gloves." Not certain how long these would last say, shoveling snow; however, they'd probably get through one session at least. -at that the failure point would likely be the pads themselves, so you still have the cables and gloves in the end. Neat!

Michael Thompson

How hot would they get if you decided to go with a different voltage like 3 or I dunno maybe 12v

Ah I take the "exactly" back: they've revised the heating pads. The old ones were more heating-pad-esque; these newer ones look much better. They also didn't do the goofy alternative velcro thing in the old ones. But the gloves themselves are identical, so apparently that part of the design is hard to improve upon.

Oh man, I have a stack of exactly those gloves from literally 8 years ago! (My kid's mom and I were both regulars at SF's hackerspace, Noisebridge, which was very poorly heated. We imported a stack to resell to cold hackers, which went so well that I've never wanted for fingerless gloves since.)

It would be a lot more complicated than the laminated film with graphite fluff in it. You'd also probably have to ventilate the cold side. Peltier junctions are not super efficient.

They get hotter faster.

What happens if I use these gloves with my Double-death gay Dalek camping light and wet/damp hands?

Lostngone

I know this would be kind of expensive but could you possibly make heated gloves out of peltor thermo electric generators.
