A comparison between a Poundland £5 string of LED lights and an eBay £3.50 string.  One of them is very good.

I think it was the one he used for "guess which power supply will explode" which was fun. (The best part is when the power supply exploded.)

Many of the shops (including Poundland) do sell traditional push-in tungsten sets.

In the UK our ring power circuits are protected by 32A circuit breakers. You do get 16A radial circuits though.

Something exploded on his multi-way adapter. Imagine that :)

No demonstration of the effect of a short on the chinese lights?

I love seeing these videos and this one is practically a PSA to boot! Great stuff as always

Fuses in US plugs !! Pray tell what is this wizardry you speak of ??

I have two sets of old school lights I got on sale last year from the local super market. I love leds, but growing up in the 80’s something about the old tungsten ceramic glow is just amazing.

When I was a kid we had big olive shaped lamps in metal reflectors. It later turned out that many of the insulating rings had crumbled and some of those reflectors were potentially live at up to 240V. A friend also had an interesting Xmas experience while trying to find a dead lamp in a series string. He passed current across his chest with such force he thought someone had kicked him in the back.

We grew up with mains(US) voltage Christmas lights however they did have fuses in plugs or one of the lamps and most of us survived.
