Inside a newer flame effect LED lamp.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLBHCS_hrRU

It's a year since I looked at the first of these that appeared on the market, so it seems a good idea to make an update with a new version now that the circuitry and effect has evolved.  It's pretty good.

Just got mine in from China! Ordered Green and Blue and got matching USB leads of course (no pink! Sorry Big Clive!) Nifty tip with the US style screw in bulbs, if you pry the bottom connection out and widen the hole in the base of the screw terminal, you can run the usb cable through it and tie a knot for some strain relief. This will also prevent people from accidentally screwing it in to a live socket! Thanks for the video!!

Well, some cloner might also worry about being found to be a clone. Most won't even care.

Heh, how about I do proper research. SMD2835 according to one listing.

What is the LED module type (size) in these? I have an idea I would like to try.

Super cool! Had to order a couple of these to try out myself. - might have to work one into an industrial lamp as it could be perfect effect.

I have never understood how hardware companies (which know exactly how easy it is to copy an electronic design) freak out about people taking their products apart. Unless they are potting their products, any interested person has access to their layout as soon as they ship publicly. The supreme irony is when a group copies/clones/is inspired by someone else's design and then gets uppity about it being taken to bits.

The hiss is caused by the low load causing the switching converter to cycle on and off rapidly. It's annoyingly common in some plug-in USB chargers when the item they are charging is fully charged and the load is low.

That's his pet snake just off screen ;o)

At the end of the video your power bank is hissing, I think it needs the smoothing cap in the supply.
