Something festive (and slightly rude).

This is quite a fun project to do and it seems to make people really appreciate your cards. They tend to put them at the front of the shelf and hang onto them after Xmas when all the others go in the bin.

Reminds me of the Pink Floyd "Pulse" CD that famously came with a flashing red LED on the case. I replaced the battery in a few of those

Used a similar pattern (outer positive, inner negative) to neatly join together the LEDs for the eyes of a dragon sculpture. I had a picture of that somewhere, but obviously it's nowhere to be found when you need it. Edit: it's part of this build, but the eyes are already assembled. Used a similar pattern for the LEDs inside the mouth, though: http://www.thearcanedragonry.co.uk/2017/11/11/zappityzap/

The "grain" of a fabric is called the "nap" - see the "nap" of a snooker table etc. etc.

The card looked so sweet at the end. Oh my gods. hahahaha

I loved it too! I know my sister would love the card but we live in America.. she wouldn't get the joke really because she won't know they are called fairy lights in some other parts of the world... Still might make it and come up with some joke to go along, but I doubt I'll be able to beat the original joke. Lol

Hm. I wonder if a button-cell holder would be better. It would be a lot thinner at the least. With so few LEDs it would still last a very long time. You can get a 3V CR2032 holder WITH a switch built in for less than $0.50/ea.

Oh that cat card is awesome. I never had a cat that didn't nom some lighting cables at some point. LOL

That's common these days in the "multi-action" sets.

The 2032s work, but don't last long.

I bought a set of lights and cut off the battery pack and wired them directly amd only half were lit ,when i charged the polarity the other half lit up , I think its using a H-Bridge at a high frequency for then to appear as they're all on at once.

Really cool idea. Wonder would a CR2032....or two, work as well? Would make it a lot less bulky.
