Inside a heated powerbank.

Yes indeed, a heated powerbank does seem like a bad idea. Especially one rated at pretty much 10W when fully charged.

Patreon is an infinitely better option than adsense for all the technical channels. If I made videos that were advertiser friendly they would be sterile.

Pussy jokes, a vibrating "Love Egg", and talk of lithium "bombs". Thank fuck for Patreon eh? :)

Chris Talbot

It's always on standby in case of unexpected violent moments.

That's Clive, a simple but satisfying pleasure! I think it's time to see the containment dish contain something..... :)

Richard Boyce

Such a simple but satisfying pleasure to hear Clive exclaim "shiiiit".

Nice to see the explosion containment pie dish making a comeback. We haven't seen it in a while.

10 degrees C? Good lord, man! I think *24* is only barely warm enough! That's a pretty neat device; you can vibrate things, turn on the light to see them, and warm them up if they're cold, all at the same time!

When I was designing my RGB controllers I was originally going to use Darlington transistors until I researched the MOSFETs and discovered how low the on state resistance can be. The newer devices have astonishingly low resistance. Even at low gate voltage.

The new Poundland 2.1A charger will be the next video once it's finished processing. It's pretty good inside.

It's amazing how tiny high-current MOSFETs have become. I have some which are smaller than the 8-pin microcontrollers that you keep finding in things, but these FETs can pass 20A continuous at modest voltage (30V maybe? higher than I was ever going to need, certainly), but that was just the part I chose to keep cost down (and with availability from the Chinese markets). If you don't mind spending nearer £1 per MOSFET from DigiKey you can get tens of amps through a minuscule chip. It's just down to the staggering RDSon that we can get these days. Julian posted a video recently about the transistors he's using getting very low in resistance. You can get them below 0.1mOhm I think, at which point high currents are easy! (And yes, my reaction to first seeing one was much the same as yours!)

I guess you could adapt an E cigarette to be dual purpose ? I found one recently discard in the street the cells were a bit rusty but cleaned up and are working well. I ordered this from bluestone001 Electric Rechargeable Pocket Hand Warmer Heater USB Charger 5000mAh Power Bank Item price £ 6.74 BTW Poundland in Barry a Signalex twin output usb plug 2.1amp for £2 it was not much bigger than a 13amp plug, it looks good inside, I have pictures {not sure were to put them} BTW2 Tesco are selling for 12v a transformer style car charger for £12 interesting guts [it has a thermal cutout]. I wanted it for the transformer and will adapt it to give me 12vac and 36vac via extra sockets so it will be portable supply for a 6J1 Valve Pre-amp solder kit. John

I love it when you find these obscure things and tear them to bits. There is an "explosion proof" one on Banggood which has 40 and 60 degree options, perhaps this is an upgrade not sure! https://www.banggood.com/Electric-Multifunction-Warmer-Heater-Vibration-Massage-Power-Bank-Explosion-proof-Pocket-Hand-p-1099605.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN

Cool, I got one of these this morning, just been using it while out walking the dog and was wondering about safety in terms of heat and lithium batteries so was thinking it was a job for Big Clive, lo and behold I get home and find a notification on my phone for what looks like the same model I have... Thanks
