It's not as lurid as it sounds. The device in question (actually called an Aspod) is very simple, but also a very good idea that takes known medical knowledge and suddenly makes a simple but important drug readily available at any time anywhere.
I strongly recommend watching this video as it will inspire you to carry something similar at all times. Allowing you to make a difference between life and death.
And DEFINITELY enter the competition for one by viewing the video on YouTube and leaving the word Aspod in the YouTube comments section for the video.

I never would have thought of carrying this before, but at 48 years old, it suddenly seems like a good idea. When did that happen?!?

I find the profit motivated "health" system in America appalling. In less corrupt countries they regard it as important to maintain the health of workers to keep them productive.

Here in the good old U$A, may the FSM help you if you think you're having a heart attack and don't have insurance. Before he was eligible to be on my insurance, my husband (who had two heart attacks when he was younger) was having chest pains and I took him to the emergency room. It turned out that it *probably* wasn't a heart attack, but they hit us for something like $3,500 for the visit. They *wanted* to hold him over night for "observation" and do a stress test the next day, but that would have bumped it up to over $20,000 out of pocket. He said "forget" that and we went home. He's from the UK and is constantly appalled by our lovely for-profit medical system. I do, however, make him carry his nitroglycerin tablets on his belt loop in a small container like the one you showed.

If you are already on some heart medication you should consult your Doctor first. I do take a blood thinner already and I think my Doctor advised against aspirin, apart from being allergic to it.
Another point is that it is better absorbed if you put it under your tongue.

Just check before you send the asprin to other country's Clive... It's still classed as a drug even if you don't need a prescription... Wouldn't want you getting in any trouble.... Kingpin Clive lol

ASPOD! It would be great if these become a little more commonplace to drop the price, I feel that £5.50 pushes them into the bracket where people will experience a little too much purchase friction. If they can drop them to the £3 mark I think there will be a lot of people investing a tenner for their loved ones.

thanks for creating this video Clive, I've ordered a bunch of twin packs and will be handing them out to my family and friends, including my brother who is a serving police officer. I see someone mentioned the 'pill fob' available ebay etc as am aluminium tube with an O ring seal - maybe these would last longer on the keyring? the 'hook'on the aspod seems a little thin - maybe you could review a 'pill fob', i'd happily purchase one and send to you. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks Clive I think this gizmo is more effective than the Defibrillation machines that keep popping up in banks .. golf clubs etc.
Just for an example of what to look out for in people that may be having an issue.
Back in 1998 I was misdiagnosed with a heart condition AF and told to go back to work because I was too young to be AF my age at the time was 36y, 6 months later I had a stroke a few days before I was due to help deliver a yacht to Portugal.
At the time of the stroke I lived on my own and was not aware of it until someone rang me and I found I could not say a sentence of more than 3 words; another bit of luck was some that some friends called around and took me to hospital, I was now down to ONE word sentences, and a fibrillating heart rate of 220bps I then spent the next 11 days in hospital.
I am still AF and recently had my medicine changed from Digoxin and Warfarin to self regulating blood thinner and 2 other meds to control the AF but I have had to go back on Warfarin.
I would still take an Aspirin on top of Warfarin without worrying when I have cold powders etc, just need to keep on top of my INR blood tests.
Over the years I have had chest pains that present like a tourniquet around the upper chest ! indigestion or heart attack, In my case I used Dr Clive's "Health Salts" and it was indigestion "I hope".
A friend of ours was a paramedic and the ECG kit they carry could do some diagnostics and they had a special phone number for Cardiff to rush people in, because they have found that this is the fastest way to get people back home, rather than just referring them through the slow channels of your own doctor and wait for a hospital specialist.
My neighbour was on holiday in the UK and collapsed in the street and was taken to hospital and they used a Stent to open up the blockage and it only added a day or so to the holiday.
Back in 1998 on the ward there were a number of patients that had been referred by their Doctor and the delay was such that a Stent could not be used and they would require bypass surgery, quite a significant improvement today with the health service.
I am one of the lucky ones I have no lasting effects from the stroke.

As an Emergency Medical Technician i approve this message. Where i am we give 4 81 mg chewables, they are flavored so a little more plesant whilst dying (joking). Im glad you took the time for this, every bit of accurate information is helpful these days.

Thanks for sharing. I am in the US and went to the UK website and ordered 5 of them for less money (including shipping) than Amazon wanted. Catchy title, I had no idea of what to expect. You may save some people's lives with this Clive!

Chris Muncy is right. The US Amazon site currently has 3 offerings of $44 to $45 USD. All "click-through" sellers. In any event - excellent posting and information. My son and I think it's a great idea. One can get small plastic pill containers at the local grocer or druggist as an alternative. However, the name Aspod is pretty awesome!

Having actually spent the moment tasting Aspirin for the first time you can definitely get the acidic taste. It wasn't unpleasant.
Big Clive
2018-02-20 04:29:19 +0000 UTC
it's acetylsalicylic acid
2018-02-20 04:25:58 +0000 UTC
I'll add this to the description. Specifically asking the victim if they are OK with taking an Aspirin first, although you do have to weigh the pro's and cons of dissolving a clot versus other adverse effects.
Big Clive

I think that's an anomaly, but it's almost guaranteed that people will 3D print versions or get existing waterproof pill capsules from eBay.
Big Clive

So after seeing that Amazon US wants almost $50 USD shipped, I offer up a challenge: Design one of these slim holders that can be printed on a 3D printer, or recommend a pill holder from Thingiverse that could be printed that can be mounted on a key ring

***IMPORTANT*** Do not consume aspirin if you have any type of hemophilia, if you found that you are slow to scab, if you are coughing, urinating, or otherwise passing blood, or if you have been diagnosed with hypotension. Contact emergency serveries *PRIOR* to consuming any over the counter medication, and proceed as they direct. Do not begin taking "baby aspirin" unless you have been directed to by a medical practitioner.
